Services
The eye is a truly amazing organ in our body. In conjunction with our brain, it detects movements, differentiates colors, and discerns shapes as it allows us to see the world. The gift of sight is so highly valued, that each year when the public is surveyed about their greatest fears, loss of vision is always one of the top responses.
Health Ministry Requirements - Our trips will now have a 2-part process to be approved for our mission. The first is to be approved by the First Lady of Nicaragua and the second by Health Ministry. So that we can comply with the regulations, all documentation is to be in the Christ the Healer office 2 months prior to each trip.
Membership in the Optometry Association of Louisiana (OAL) is an extremely important part of any Louisiana optometrist's career. The OAL has worked diligently over the past several decades to improve the quality of eyecare Louisiana's residents receive, to increase the number of services a Louisiana optometrist can provide, to prevent discrimination against the profession at all levels, and to insure representation on legislative issues.

We now enjoy a scope of practice in which we prescribe all oral and topical medications for treatment of the eye and its adnexa, order all pertinent bloodwork and neuro-imaging procedures for our patients, perform minor surgical procedures on the eye and the adnexa, and maintain our own DEA numbers to prescribe Schedules II, III & IV controlled substances, all while maintaining our refractive expertise.
