The Simpson family wanted to create a high quality Michigan wine for consumers to enjoy at an affordable price. This was the plan put into place when they opened the doors of Good Harbor Vineyards back in 1980. Great wine doesn't need to come at an extravagant cost. Bruce Simpson studied viticulture and oenology at the University of California Davis to begin his journey as a local winemaker.
A rich, dry, complex wine, with aromas of raspberries and cocoa, Collaboration will warm your soul. A glass of Northern Michigan cherry pie along with a packet of mulling spices to warm and make at home. Good Harbor receives high scores with Wine Enthusiast and wins prestigious awards at TEXSOM! The TEXSOM International Wine Awards has recognized top wines from around the world. With over 70 global sommelier judges, the competition is fierce. Out of nearly 2,400 wines, we proudly took home 6 awards, including 1 Judge's Selection (given to 3% of wines) and 1 Gold (8% of wines)!
Our Cellar Assortment packages are a great way to find out more about Good Harbor Vineyards wine when you cannot visit our tasting room. From a flight of sparkling wines to the seasonal assortment pack, we can get you the bottles you need to be the highlight of any party. Each bottle is packed with only the best grapes, and we use industry-leading methods to ensure their juice creates a unique taste in the Northern Michigan region.
Using light-colored grapes and fermenting them without any skin helps give our white wine selection their brilliant pale yellow and hay-like colors. They also come in various sweet and dry profiles to suit any palate and preference. You can quickly bring a bottle of Pinot Grigio to the park, then move to a Chardonnay for dinner and finish it all off with a Late Harvest Riesling for dessert.

Fantastic wine! My wife and I went for a tasting and left with 6 more bottles. This is our favorite winery anywhere in Michigan (and we have been to a number of places up here). Definitely try the 2019 Dry Riesling. This bottle is tied with Mari Vineyard's Praefectus as our favorite wine from this region (for reference, my wife is from the Napa area). Great wine and great people!

Located at the 45th parallel, this winery is amazing. The wines are reat, but the presentation is even better! The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable (Avery). We so appreciated the attention to us and tothe wine and its origin. We could tell that the staff takes pride in their employers and their products. Absolutely recommend this stop!

Wonderful! Service was great. Wine was great. We left with a bottle each. Both the dry and late harvest riesling were delicious. Conveniently located right on M-22, definitely with stopping in!

We walked in shortly before 6, which we understood was the time they closed. I was coming for a specific bottle of wine I had before and an older woman approached my friend, got very close to her and yelled, “we aren’t doing tastings anymore, no more tastings!” With a very short and rude tone. I asked if we could still look which she said we could… they had the wine I wanted, but I was so bothered by my friend visiting from out of town being treated so poorly that I didn’t end up purchasing it. There were quite a few people who were still making purchases and drinking wine as well as

This was an experience greater than expected. Their wine was a step over good and right into memorable, while the staff was extremely friendly. The tasting room was small but clean and presented well, but in the end it was their unique samplings that pushed this experience over from a 4 to a 5. Their may be larger wineries on the peninsula, but there are only 4 that are older and few that compare to the taste of their creations.

We joined the wine club in 2020 and love it! The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. What we like most is the wide range of price points with even the lowest price wines being totally drinkable and enjoyable.
