Winemaker, Richard Hood who joined our team just before harvest 2019 serves to highlight the vineyard characteristics, and to dial in the precision of flavors within bottle. Originally born in San Diego, he attended UC Davis and studied Food Science with an Enology specialization, graduating with a MS in 1998.
Richard has diverse experience in terms of grape sourcing and production scale, and has had several positions throughout California. In 2010 he relocated to Washington State for new winemaking opportunities, drawn by the relative youth of the industry. Richard has since been actively involved in the Washington wine industry, including serving as chair of the Washington Wine Technical Group from 2013 through 2015.

Heathen Estate's beautiful vineyard is located on a 20 inviting acres of wonderment. This historic layout creates the perfect intimate setting. The wrap around porch, as well as our perfectly maintained vineyard makes for a fantastic photo opportunity. An adjacent area to the north side of the property opens into a sprawling vista, ideal for wedding receptions or celebrations of all types, including corporate events.

My mom took me here yesterday on a Saturday afternoon to wine taste. It is a large tent (building forthcoming) and it was breezy and relaxing. There were few people there and it was just comfortable. (You know how sometimes you wine taste and you're the only ones there and you feel like you're being stared at and it's awkward? This was the exact opposite feeling. Really a lovely experience!)
Lynda was THE best at sharing about the grapes and the process and the wines, as she gave us VERY generous pours. She created a warm atmosphere and strangers standing around tasting began talking
