Dr. Erickson has extensive experience evaluating adults in the context of criminal charges. Dr. Erickson completed a two year fellowship in severe mental disorders at the University of Rochester, which provided him specialized training in the assessment of illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Dr. Erickson has specialized experience in the evaluation of juveniles involved in the criminal justice system. Juveniles present special challenges to forensic evaluators as they must consider not only the presence or absence of mental illness, but the juvenile's developmental status and family environment.
Dr. Erickson is available to provide consultation to attorneys and other mental health professionals regarding the intersection of mental health issues and the law. He has an in-depth knowledge of case law as it relates to mental health issues before the court, as well as the ethics and best practices of forensic mental health assessment.
