Our goal is to help you develop a long term plan for your oral health. This is done with an accurate assessment and open honest discussion. There are several possible reasons why a tooth may need to be removed (extracted). For instance a tooth may be deemed unrestoreable due to extensive decay, infection or missing tooth structure. Even a tooth with no decay could be lost due to severe bone loss from Periodontal Disease. Sometimes perfectly good teeth are removed to "make room" during Orthodontic Therapy.
Your first appointment will be spent completing a Comprehensive Examination. This begins with taking all necessary radiographs (x-rays) and photographs of the teeth. Then your health and dental history will be reviewed followed by a detailed examination of your teeth and soft tissues. Finally the treatment planning phase will begin.
Digital radiography allows us to more accurately diagnose dental conditions because of the quality and size of the image. Also the software used allows for adjustments and enhancements to be made to the image with only the click of a mouse. These images will be presented to you on a computer screen so that you can see what we see.
Using mouth guards during sports or athletic activity can help prevent dental damage. The ADA (American Dental Association) says, The Councils promote the importance of safety in maintaining oral health and the use of a properly fitted mouthguard as the best available protective device for reducing the incidence and severity of sports-related dental injuries.

As usual, I find this office very comfortable from the minute I walk in until I leave. Ashley greets me with a welcome smile and is more than willing to keep me company for the few minutes it takes until my appointment. This time a new, to me, dental assistant, Mary, was in charge of the cleaning. She was very competent. She explained gum recession, why some teeth seem to get more tartar than others, sensitivities and other concerns. She did this looking at me to see that I was understanding.... not while she was cleaning. This, of course, took more time, but there was never any indication that

Dr. Nulph is a kind and patient doctor. He explains and demonstrates (with pictures) the work that needs to be done so that I have a good understanding before he makes changes in my mouth. His assistants are also sweet, gentle, and relatable as they engage in conversation. I also like his administrative assistant, Ashley, because she is very competent and knows exactly what my insurance is going to cover. She goes over my out-of-pocket expenses BEFORE the work is done so that I am not surprised with a bill later.

I recently moved to Yakima and was recommended Scenicview Dental. All the staff was friendly and informative in regards to my dental health.
