We honor local ingredients, soul-satisfying dishes, and the Italian spirit that goes into creating this timeless cuisine. From Italian chianti to Finger Lakes riesling, many of our wines are hand-selected straight from the vineyard. Al dente pasta is made using farm fresh eggs, organic Montana flours, and a whole lot of finesse.
Our trout hails from Trout Culture in Paradise Valley, Montana. Sustainably raised, these pink-fleshed fish live in water fed from cool, clear, spring creeks. Incredible teamwork in a small space to put out delicious food. Birds eye view of kitchen gave us new appreciation for how hard chefs and wait staff work.

In my kitchen, we hand-make 5 pounds of fresh ricotta cheese each day. I learned to make pasta in Rochester, pastries in Portland and coffee in New York. Blacksmith is an accumulation of all those years- purposely taking every job in the book, giving up everything to learn something new. At the young age of 14, Cory bused tables at his aunt's restaurant.

If you are looking for some food that will knock your socks off then check out Blacksmith Italian. They lovingly prepare piedmontese beef for some great steaks. I had a 30 day dry aged ribeye that I will be dreaming about for weeks. Possibly months. At least 30 days. 😉 We enjoyed the bone marrow for something unique. Plenty of staff and very helpful.

Great food and good service. However, we went there for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We unfortunately got sat at a large booth on the left side of the restaurant next to large groups and loud parties. When we left, we realized the other side was much more quiet and intimate. If you make a date reservation ask to be seated on the quieter side.

Food was good, atmosphere was more lively than I expected, pricing was to be expected. We spent about $100 on an appetizer, two main courses and two drinks. We had the Octopus Risotto and Wild Boar Gnocchi. Would definitely get the Gnocchi again - it was so good! The octopus was a little salty mixed with the rich risotto and I felt like it needed just a bit more of the grapefruit wedges to compliment the flavors. Both dishes were beautiful!

Love this place. Came for a birthday dinner. Had the calamari (so tender, not over fried like most places). It was exceptional with a great puttanesca sauce. We also had the calamari and the amazing Seafood Bisque (incredible tomato bisque full of crab and topped with cod, shrimp & scallops). Both so good. Next time I'd split the Bisque and get a salad. We could have had anything, it all sounded great. My only complaint was that it was all too salty for us. But I'll still go back soon!

For my New Jersey wife to say that this was some of the best pasta she has ever had her life says a lot. The wild boar ragu was fantastic, the arencini appetizer, amazing, the acorn squash agnolotti, delicious. I did not think that I was going to get Italian food of this level in a place like Montana, I was pleasently wrong.

Best Italian in bozeman? Yes.
Best in Montana? Yes
Best in the world, perhaps.
The one thing I do know is if you want THE BEST home style, handmade, locally sourced food in bozeman. Do yourself a favor and go to Blacksmith and have Corey and the crew serve up a dinner that makes you feel like you're back in your (presumably Italian) grandmas kitchen.
Seriously, the best, eat there!

I grew up Italian in New Jersey and I never could have dreamed of a place like this under Big Sky country. This is the only place I would even think of getting Italian from in the future. The calamari was cooked just so when so many cook it too long. The octopus just the same, being such a delicate dish I have not had such amazing octopus since my trip to Italy itself. It melted in your mouth. The risotto was perfect. The desserts were the crowning jewel of the meal. I was blown away and highly recommend this restaurant. I will be returning.

Still dreaming about my meal a week ago!!! We had a large group of 8 for dinner and was beyond impressed. They were busy and the service was still spot on; everyone’s food was drool-worthy; and the environment was cozy and intimate without being crowded. I can’t wait to go back and try even more….next date night!

I mean the food was 'good,' but it expected more based on the NYC prices and the reviews. We heeded advice and booked an early dinner rez. The friendly waitress gave us the specials and offered us warm rolls and butter to start. We shared the beet salad with goat cheese and spring greens. Solid and basic. I had the squid ink tagliatelle with wild shrimp and Maryland crab. The seasoning was fine, but it wasn't bursting with flavor. Nice bite to the fresh pasta though and the portions were generous. It felt like a good college try, but the flavors didn't really pop. My friend

My husband treated me to a birthday dinner last night. The waiter was exceptional and his wine and food recommendations were spot on. The food was absolutely delicious! I don't currently get out of the house much due to cancer treatment, so if I do go out, it really has to count. I'd highly recommend Blacksmith Italian for a special dinner!

This place is fabulous! I tend to avoid pasta and rice dishes but I still love Blacksmith Italian! There are so many options for someone like me! The service is always excellent and the chef always makes an effort to chat with friends and acquaintances. It's always my first choice when going out to dinner in Bozeman.

Wasn't what I was looking for completely. I was really wanting gnocchi, but we found some good alternatives. Appeared to be more of, enjoy a great wine kind of place where the wine is probably better than the food, however we were just looking for good food. Not saying the chef can't cook though because she has mad skills. Owner was very friendly and out going. Menu was just off a bit. I would try agian if the menu was changed.

Went here for the first time for a friend's birthday dinner. The atmosphere was quaint and eccentric, and I loved some of the history they also included. They brought some complimentary bread to the table that was delicious. I included photos of two different dishes people at our table got. Both were incredible! I definitely tend to be on the less expensive side when it comes to what I spend on food out, so while this place pushed my comfort zone a little in that area, overall had a great experience. The food was delicious. They had enough options to select from but kept a simple menu. Our

This is by far THE best restaurant in Bozeman. The chef is a sauce master. While every visit has been wonderful the most recent visit was perfection and it will go down as one of my best meals. I had the octopus which was such a beautifully balanced dish. Dining companions loved their dishes of ravioli with bolognese and the beef tenderloin (the best piece of beef we have had in Montana). Corinne has been our server the last two visits and she is extremely professional and knowledgeable in both the food and wine. She should be teaching serving skills to those wanting to work in fine dining.

I'm severely disappointed. My boyfriend and I came here on recommendation. We had fairly high hopes, though not above reality. The food took ages to come out and for the price...it's basically a scam. The portions are small as my bfs spaghetti was 28$ and the sauce had no flavor besides the taste of frozen pees and over cooked bacon. I had the Thursday special lasagna and while it was alright it was nothing to right home about. The only reason this place has one star is the alcohol portions are large enough to get you drunk so you don't taste the low quality food. I would not recommend

Once again Blacksmith knocks it out of the park. We had guests from out of town and asked "where are you taking us to dinner here in Bozeman?
No question Blacksmith Italian. If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience Blacksmith is the place.
Service and excellent food are always great.
Do yourself a favor and try Blacksmith.

Special that night was Spanish Octopus. I have eaten a lot of tentacles in my life, and this was the best. IT was tender and flavorful. Pretty to look at. I am still thinking about it. Too bad they're 1,200 miles away.
Pricey, $100.+ for 2 apps and 2 mains w/no alcohol. Every bite of everything was superb. Each plate appeared rather small, yet we couldn't have desert as we were so full.
One little negative item, the flatware was really cheap and looked totally out of place in this venue.

Colored me impressed at this little Montana gem. This place is tucked away in a office strip mall and to the unassuming you can easily miss this place. Wish there was a 3.5 stars but this is why I ultimately docked 2 stars.
We came here for dinner and the place was packed. The ambiance is dark and to can get loud at times and make it hard to take your party. We arrived a few minutes late but were asked to wait. The waiting area is this narrow area by the front of the door. I was surprised that we ended up waiting about an extra 15 mins before being seated and the owner was apologetic
