At Carroll Eye Clinic, Dr. Jamie Ostrander provides medical and routine vision examinations for adults and children. Our eye doctors specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the eye and provide well vision exams. Treatments may include prescription of medicine, glasses, or contact lenses.
Regular eye examinations are an important part of your preventive health care. Children should have their first eye exam at 6 months of age, again at age 3 and every year into adulthood. The simple vision screening provided by your pediatrician may not detect all eye issues, and early detection is vital.

Services
At Carroll Eye Clinic, our examinations are more than just checking to see if you need glasses! Our goal is to provide the best vision health care in a comfortable, friendly environment. Your eyes provide early detection for many diseases that can affect more than just your vision. Early diagnosis of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease are just a few of the illnesses that can be detected through visual health examinations.
At Carroll Eye Clinic we carry a large selection of eyeglass frames from designer to budget. We are certain that we can help you pick out the best choice for you whether your glasses are a necessity or an accessory. Eyeglasses have become a fashion statement! Our opticians are trained to recommend the best lens solution for your specific needs.
The American Optometric Association recommends a comprehensive professional eye examination be performed at 6 months, 3 years and 5 years. A comprehensive examination includes: the evaluation of the refractive state (checking to see if there is a prescription needed), a dilated fundus examination, visual acuity, ocular alignment, binocularity (the ability to see in 3D), and color vision testing where appropriate.
We all know sunscreen is important for protecting your skin - sunglasses provide the same necessary protection for your eyes. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation has been linked to cataracts and macular degeneration. It is extremely important that children begin to wear sun protection as early as possible to avoid the potential of these diseases.
Carroll Eye Clinic is available for emergency care to treat eye injuries or infections. Please call our office at 712-792-3318. If it's after normal business hours, our voicemail supplies the phone number of our on call optometrist. During your exam an eye doctor views the inside and outside of the eye to detect the extent of the injury or infection and develops a treatment plan.

I've been seeing who I believed was a highly competent optometrist in Carroll for 23 years. Today, I found out that wasn't really true. You see, today I saw Dr. Ostrander for the first time and, for the first time in decades, I CAN SEE! I told my previous doctor, at nearly every visit, that I wasn't seeing well in my left eye. I'd receive a slightly different Rx and sent on my way. But, today... well, it's as though I'm seeing for the first time. What was it that the other optometrists missed throughout my life? A rare disorder? Nope. Something brand new? No. It was something very common and easy
