Services
Your package includes two nights accommodations in a hiker's suite (before and after the trail), an Outpost surf and turf BBQ, lunch and train transportation from Bennett Lake, two hearty Alaskan breakfasts and of course all of the amenities that we offer to our guests. Indulge yourself in a refreshing hot mountain spring shower upon your return.
A welcome sight at the end of road to Dyea and the start of the Chilkoot Trail. Our cabin was comfortable and cozy and came with chocolate! The lodge has a friendly atmosphere and offers a gourmet grill-it-yourself salmon/halibut dinner. Not to mention the S'Mores. Book in advance, we stayed in June and the Outpost was full!
The natural beauty of the property offers hiking trails, picnic grounds, natural springs and a waterfall. After a day of hiking, bicycling or sightseeing, enjoy a quiet relaxing evening around an onsite open campfire pit with an adjacent gazebo equipped with a commercial BBQ, dining area, and hot and cold running water.
The Chilkoot Trail Outpost offers CLEAN extraordinary and comfortable hand-crafted cabins. The "Outpost" consists of eight individual cabins that will accommodate guests in ten private quarters. All cabins are equipped with microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker. A hearty breakfast buffet in the main lodge is included with your stay.
Your hosts are long time locals to Alaska's southeast region. Born and raised in Skagway, Fred grew up at his father's sawmill on the Chilkoot Trail. His wife, Kathy and her family came up to Alaska on a fishing boat in the 60's and have lived there ever since. Their children, Desi and Eric, are Alaska born and raised and are also active in the operation of the Chilkoot Trail Outpost.

This will be a long one, but needs to be said. We came to the CTO because another place we were trying to book never called us back , thank you Miranda at Lynnview in Haines! This is not only a very beautiful cabin, it's spotless and roomy. The owners Kathy and Fred are so friendly and are helping us to plan excursions, and to make our appointments for our covid test to go home. We went in for dinner of halibut and salmon, baked potatoes with cole slaw, all home made and the best fish I've ever had. You have to try the fresh raspberry Sunday that was so good I wanted to lick the bowl. Bottom line

We had seven people and booked three cabins. The cabins were well maintained and had everything we needed for a couple nights stay. There are a number of trails and historic sites nearby. Breakfast was eggs and pancakes. Not an egg person but the scrambled eggs were some of the best. Dinner was excellent and the portion sizes were large. The Dyea Raspberry Sundae is amazing. The owners and staff were excellent. If and when we return to Alaska we will make sure to stay here again.

Not only was our stay relaxing and refreshing, but the hospitality was outstanding!!! We would have missed the stunning landscape of Dyae Rd had we chose a stay in Skagway! The owners have build a stunning retreat, every detail has been considered, and the craftsmanship and cleanliness of the buildings is immaculate! Breakfast was fantastic, drinks, and complimentary s’mores were delicious! So many details I can’t even list! I encourage everyone to stay here! What a rare jewel! Thank You Chilkoot Trail Outpost!

This is the perfect place to start and end your Chilkoot Trail hike. Cozy little cabins. Great host. Good food. The anticipation of the hike and the actual hike is exhausting....at least it was for me. This Outpost made the entire experience so much more enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend this Outpost for your hike.
