Center For Low Back Pain
Dr. David B. Fishkin, D.C., MPH, a practicing chiropractor for over 30 years, combines chiropractic medicine and physical therapy rehabilitation to achieve the very best outcomes for pain and improved function. Traditional medical treatment occupies an important place in healthcare, and its appropriate use is indispensable.

However, there are many instances in which standard medical care is insufficient and counterproductive. Many of the conditions that I address respond much more favorably to the combination of treatments that are provided at Fishkin Center than to prescription medications, nonprescription medications, and surgical interventions.
Services
I live in Maryland with my beautiful family, and have an office in Rockville MD, but I'm a native New Yorker. I obtained a bachelor's degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Stonybrook and a Doctor of Chiropractic from the New York Chiropractic College. In 2008 I completed a master's in Public Health at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
It's not possible to know if a treatment will be curative, whether mine or another's, but in many cases my approach enables me to exercise more and better control of the problem, and thus a better chance of resolving it completely. In some cases surgery is the right path to take, but it must always be the last choice, not the first.
As a chiropractor, I consult, examine, and diagnose patients the same as your other doctors, but instead of focusing on pharmaceutical and surgical solutions, I utilize specialized chiropractic training appropriate to the given condition.

Chiropractors are educated in the same basic sciences as our medical school counterparts but focus our treatments on manual therapy - a combination of manipulation techniques (spine and limbs) and physical therapy approaches - to resolve the health concerns our patients bring to our offices.
Spinal manipulation is the key to chiropractic care. Chiropractic reflects a specialized type of spinal manipulative procedure that chiropractors spend years perfecting that is different than all other types. The goal of chiropractic spinal manipulation is to correct spinal joint dysfunction that often leaves the bony structures jammed and locked.
Prior to your first visit we will mail or email a patient form created by Dr. Fishkin to gather information about your medical history and factors affecting your health. We will also collect information about your insurance so that you're informed of your coverage. On your first visit, Dr. Fishkin will consult with you personally to identify and understand your symptoms, and to discuss treatment options.

Doctor Fishkin is wonderful and got me back to running in just a few dry needling treatments. His business manager, Rhoda, however is very rude. Hopefully you won't have to have the unpleasant experience of dealing with her.

I had high hopes when I initially went to Dr. Fishkin's office. He had a good review, and I was looking for a local chiropractor that could help with my back/neck issues. After about a half-dozen visits, I felt like the dry-needling and other techniques he used were not helping. His bedside manners at times also need improvement. Dry needling and other non-manipulative techniques may work for some patients, but not for others, including myself. Additionally, he's only in College Park about twice a week, so you may have to hike up to Rockville at his other office if you need to see

I received chiropractic and dry needling, and floated out of every hour long weekly session. Dr.Fishkin is a compassionate man, and an effective doctor. I do recommend his services for back and neck pain sufferers.
