Knox County Solid Waste Management
Knox County Recycling and Solid Waste Management District is dedicated to protecting the environment and providing Knox County residents with valuable information about recycling and waste reduction. KCSWMD offers FREE in-school Environmental Educational Programs and focuses on adult outreach to inform residents about waste reduction, reuse, recycling and proper disposal.

These programs promote environmental stewardship to promote a healthy environment. The Recycling Assistant's role is to assist the District in their recycling efforts by transporting recyclable materials to the designated recycling center. Establish a route/schedule to deliver and empty recycling trailers from SWMD Drop off sites throughout the county (Monroe City, Decker, Sandborn, Monroe City).
Services
In 1991 the state of Indiana created the Knox County Recycling and Solid Waste Management District to help with the state's environmental goals. The District is dedicated to protecting the environment by providing recycling opportunities and safe disposal of household hazardous waste items for Knox County residents.
Education is critical to the success of any solid waste reduction and recycling effort. Knox County Recycling SWMD is committed to providing valuable, comprehensive educational programs and services to youth in the community. The District provides free environmental education programs to all Knox County schools.
Many items commonly found in your home are considered HHW. The District provides a depot for household hazardous waste to ensure safe disposal in effort to improve Knox County's quality of life by keeping our soil and waterways clean. Add sawdust, sand, oil dry, shredded paper or clay-based cat litter to the paint until there are equal parts absorbent and paint.
