Our staff is committed to providing support, compassion, information, and direction as needed to all members of our community, their families, and friends who are dealing with loss and grief. Born and raised in Whittier, Phil is the fifth-generation of the White family to own and operate White Emerson Mortuary.
White-Emerson Mortuary began in 1894 after the White family traveled from Iowa to the small Quaker community of Whittier, California. Addison White, our founder, started "E.H. White Furniture and Undertaking", named after his wife, Eliza. Shortly after the turn of the century, Addison's son, David H., took the helm.
Love is what gives life meaning. A dear friend referred me to White-Emerson, and gave me Richard Crain’s phone number.
I can not begin to say how satisfied I was with the service and compassionate care I received. He helped me with the coroner’s office, contacted the cemetery for a burial date, scheduled a timely meeting to make final arrangements like selecting a casket and memorial cards. I never felt like I was being pushed into buying something outside my resources. At the graveside

Despite that reality, the staff at White Emerson Mortuary is just incredible in every way. I had the pleasure of speaking with Victoria, and meeting with Emily. White-Emerson was especially helpful to my family at a most difficult time for us. We had little experience with the process and lots of concerns and cares. Their staff addressed our concerns thoroughly, efficiently and with kindness. There was no pressure to express our sorrow more fully through greater expenditure and no sense of judgement at our decisions.
With backlogs at churches, government offices, cemeteries and mortuaries themselves, White-Emerson coordinated everything so that we could concentrate on managing our emotions and sending Mom on her way with quiet dignity.

I've never had to actually make arrangements or handle any funeral or burial arrangements, but I have been to White Emerson for 2 funerals and also listened to my mother over the phone, on several occasions with Paul, after losing my amazing grandmother in December 2020 during the Covid pandemic.
So tender, so gently handled, and such care is given in each situation.

My father passed away in February. During the worst of the pandemic. I quickly became aware of how overwhelmed the funeral industry, cemeteries, and hospitals were.
I called every funeral home in the area. Most never returned calls or worse, turned us away I couldn't even get a call back from the Cemetary where my parents had prepaid for burial plots.

Had the pleasure of working with Emily & Trino. They are simply the best & you can definitely tell they love what they do! Not once did we feel like cash cows, they made us feel like family! Very loving, informative & trustworthy! My grandpa's funeral was beautiful from beginning to the very end! Death is not an easy thing to deal with but if I had to do this process all over again I would! Grandpa looked like a pimp in his nice suit & coffin to match! My family and I have never had any experience In arranging for any funerals. Sadly this was our first for my sister and I am so glad that it was Emily who picked up my call. Not knowing anything and what to expect, Emily was really patient, understanding, kind and so accommodating with our requests and questions. She went all out to make it special for us and was with us from the start right to the end, until today even the service is over she is still assisting to follow through on all the documentations! She is so calm and collected, made the entire process smooth for us and made us feel so well

Where to even begin, I lost my best friend, my everything, my mommy on the 24th of June 2020 unexpectedly. She fought for over two hours but the doctors said there was nothing they could do. Our world came tumbling down and I have never felt more lost on this earth. The social worker quickly handed me the paperwork and asked that we take our time in deciding a mortuary as my mom passed in the hospital (PIH). I thought of rose hills given the popularity but one of the nurses suggested White Emerson. I trusted her in that moment given her sincere tone.

Where to begin about the family at White Emerson. From the first call I made when speaking to Emily, I had already felt my troubles lifted. We were having issues with our previous mortuary, so I made the call to White Emerson, they swiftly removed my moms body from that mortuary to thiers as we felt at ease. When coming into the office and sitting with Emily with only 1 1/2 days to plan things, Emily and the family got it done for my mom and it was beautiful. My review reflects John's wonderful and professional customer service! Shopping for your final arrangements is a very personal journey. However,it is definitely a good idea to plan ahead in case the inevitable occurs. Something about White Emerson felt right, so I went ahead and purchased my preplanning services. My father's passing was the most difficult thing my family has dealt with. From our first impression with the staff at White Emerson Mortuary, I have been so impressed. Their service has been excellent from our first visit during pre-planning to the day they picked up my father at home. They were extremely respectful, compassionate and understanding.
