After graduating from UCLA School of Dentistry in 1988, Dr. Wathen soon became an associate with Dr. Omer Nielsen, eventually taking over the practice upon his retirement in 1992. The existing dental practice has been in Bellflower since even prior to Dr. Nielsen Dr. Garrison, over 75 years!

Dr. Scott Wathen is a Southern California native, born and raised in Downey, CA where he graduated from Warren High School in 1980. He then attended UC Irvine, graduating with a degree is Biological Sciences in 1984. From there, it was UCLA School of Dentistry, graduating with multiple Outstanding Achievement Awards in 1988, and then into private practice.
Flossing isn't just good for your dental health, but for your overall health as well. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've felt ashamed while in my dentist's office after they ask me how many times a WEEK I floss, and my answer not being anywhere close to the number of times I should be.

I am so thankful to be a patient of Dr Wathen. He and the entire staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. They never try to push or encourage any unnecessary treatment. And when I do need something Gena makes sure I get the most out of my insurance. Everyone is very patient and accommodating. I have a gagging issue so extra care was taken while giving me X-rays. Very professional!

Dr. Wathen is the best DDS in the area. In the four years since I found him, I had a tricky implant, a few cleanings, and other little stuff that a 58-year-old requires; he is quick, precise, and NO PAIN. I have been generally unhappy with dentists all my life until I met this team. I have to say that Dr. Wathen has to be the best in the Bellflower/Lakewood/Cerritos area. I have been to most local clinics in the 29 years that I have lived in the area, nobody beats his experience, reasonable prices, plus he is a nice guy. These guys are good, very good!

I've been going to Dr. Wathen for years (like since I was a kid, with a short break when I moved out of area). I hated the dentist growing up and still wasn't the biggest fan as an adult. Needless to say, that makes me very picky on who I go to, especially after I've had some bad visits elsewhere. Dr. Wathen and his team are the best! They always make sure I'm taken care of (ie. My night guard fitting weird or concerns over my old crown I had done elsewhere). Plus, Dr. Wathen is super gentle and doesn't manhandle me at all, helping to alleviate my major anxiety about the

I could not recommend Dr. Wathen's office more! My family and I have been going here for over 10 years. Andrew is always so amazing and has the best personality! They manage to make us feel like family to them every time we go in for a visit. If you are looking for a dentist who is honest, detailed, and enjoyable to be around- you need to give Dr. Wathen's office a call!

Full disclosure, Dr. Wathen is my brother, however, I have been going to him for 30 years. Other than the first time I saw him in dental school at UCLA, his soft touch and painless work is amazing. Today I had two fillings done on the front of my teeth without any Novocain. It was painless, as ever, and my teeth look perfect.

Dr. Scott Wathen is the BEST dentist I have ever been to!! If you are into high tech TV's and getting wowed by how amazing the decor is at your dental office, this is NOT the place for you. I come here because I can count on the fact I will get an expert dentist and my teeth will be perfect. I am super picky when it comes to my teeth! Especially when it comes to reducing any stress, anxiety or pain associated in the dental process. Dr. Scott Wathen knows how to administer Novocaine in a way you CAN'T even feel the shot! He is so patient and keen to detail. The shape of my crown is perfect

My wife and I went to Dr. Wathen for several years.... and would still be going there if we hadn't moved out of the area.
I will second everything that has already been said. I would also add that Dr. Wathen is a conservative dentist and doesn't spend his time scheming how to squeeze the last dollar out of you.
The fact that all of his work lasts for a long time is a testament to his talent and dedication.

The most honest, conservative and kind dentist I've ever had the pleasure to get to know. I trust anything and everything Scott tells me- he try's to save your money and is transparent.
I went to him when I was very young (for a few years). I ended up moving away and other dentist made big errors on my teeth. I also had a lot of issues with my teeth from an early age (probably to much candy). I went back to Scott as an adult and he has fixed everything. I will never go to a different dentist again in my life.
It's a hidden gem- you won't regret it.

Scott Wathen, DDS is a highly experience, professional, caring and honest dentist!
He is very thorough to explain every procedure and is very caring to advise how to improve daily hygiene for healthy teeth and gums.

I love Scott Wathen, DDS and the staff. I started going to him about 23 years ago when a inadequate dentist I was seeing went on vacation. I was having multiple dental problems so she gave me Dr. Wathen's name and started seeing him.
He has always been very good in taking care of all my dental problems. Dr Wathem has a quite, calm, and gentle personality that made me feel relaxed. He has never hurt me and he spends quality time with his patients giving excellent service. My teeth always look good and people compliment me on them.
My son and his family now go to him and he put braces on

I've come a few times to this dentist and I'm happy with their service. They don't try to sell you anything and they get right to work. They send you reminders for your next appointment which helps me out a lot.
The dentist is also very gentle but thorough when working on you so if you're a big chicken like my wife, I think you'll like it here. Give them a try. I think you'll like them.

Scott Wathen and his whole office are so great, I trust them completely. I get nervous at the dentist, and these guys are so gentle and honest, I will never go anywhere else! I live really far away, but I still go to them after all these years, b/c they are just that good. It's hard to find a good dentist-I can't recommend them highly enough...

If you need a gentle dentist who is amazing at what they do: Dr. Wathen is the one for you. Simply put: good luck finding a better dentist than Dr. Wathen. He also recommended me to to the best in Endodontics for my root canal- Dr. Joseph Greiner, DDS. Amazing! Oh, I forgot to mention the quaint play area for kids & Susan, the Office Manager, is: fantastic, fast and kind.

I had a tooth that was in pretty serious pain and I went to Western Dental because, well, that is the only place that came to mind. After getting one of their dentists/technicians to check out my tooth and having her suggest a scaling, she went in the back for confirmation. Well, after that another gentleman came out and told me that they wanted to pull the tooth and it was going to be around $600. Well, OK, the money wasn't the issue, but I surely did not want to lose a tooth unless it was
