Hobbs Funeral Home
The Hobbs Funeral Home is an independent, family-owned funeral home and cremation service, serving the South Portland and Scarborough, Maine area since 1941. Our highly trained staff will make appropriate, meaningful arrangements for every religious background and our philosophy is to guide families in a caring, understanding, and personalized way.

Our tag line reads: "A family caring for families", and we truly believe that is our calling. During a time of need, we believe everyone deserves the most caring service and attention to detail.
Services
For 78 years, our funeral home has been operated on the principles of being local, independently-owned, family oriented, and taking pride in providing highly personalized, caring service for all faiths. This was the precept in place when we were founded, and it remains in place today. A very dear friend and former neighbor, Alice K. Soule, asked me (Betty) to be one of her workers for Community Chest (now The United Fund) in 1940.
We have worked hard for three generations to serve our communities. We pledge to remain an independent, family-owned funeral home into the future. Jeffrey Hobbs has been in the funeral business for nearly 30 years and is currently owner and president of the Hobbs Funeral Homes. He is the second generation to direct the organization.
We are here to help families in the most difficult time of their lives and their comfort in our funeral home is very important to us. The Hobbs family purchased what is still our funeral home in 1941. Our home was originally a farm house, built by Mr. Clemons. Beside being a farmer and wonderful carpenter, Mr. Clemons also had a blacksmith shop behind the barn, and we still have the huge bellows which were part of his trade.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
The death of a loved one or a family member is one of life's most difficult times, and it never seems to matter how much warning we have of an impending death. We don't know of any way to make it simple, or easy - yet we can help to make it a bit less painful. A caring funeral home can take much of the burden off your shoulders.

I recently worked with Randall Hobbs after my husband died. He was
caring, attended to every detail and a complete professional. He took
care of transferring my husband's social security to me, he assisted
in the obituary and then had it published in multiple publications. My
family and I are extremely grateful to him for his thoughtfulness.

Hobbs Funeral Home is amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone who may unfortunately need a funeral home. When we lost our infant recently they did everything they could to help including helping us find an urn through another company. Thank you Hobbs Funeral Home and your team, you did more for us during an otherwise devastating time than you could ever know.
