The process of my comprehensive eye exam, as well as picking out my frames and lenses was extremely quick, in and out within an hour, and the doctor was very professional and educational. The woman that assisted me with the frames and lenses was also very professional and had excellent customer service skills. I left the office completely satisfied and very happy with every aspect of the appointment.

My husband had an eye injury that required immediate attention. I was so impressed with A-Z in their quick decision making process and for seeing my husband at 10:30 in the evening. Dr. Johnson provided excellent care and made my husband feel at ease under a stressful situation. After the emergency visit, Dr. Johnson saw my husband for a follow up appointment. My family is very thankful for the caring staff and great care of Dr. Johnson. I will continue to recommend A-Z to all of my family and friends.

Never impressed with this place.
They always seem to act like they are doing you a huge favor by selling you expensive frames and making you wait.
I've had good experiences with the doctor, but the front desk and optical staff is often rude.
They seem to forget not all of us can afford $500 frames. When I tied to explain what I could afford based on my insurance they seemed annoyed.
I came in months later when said frames broke and they couldn't find the time to fix them. They said they would need an appointment for that or me to leave the glasses for weeks. Um ya, I see those glasses

I have been seeing Dr. Appy now for over 10 years. He is a great optometrist and takes his time making sure that my eyes are healthy. All of the staff at A 2 Z Eye Care are friendly and helpful. My only complaint is their phone situation. It is really hard to get through to anybody as it seems they don't have enough people to answer the phone and take care of walk in customers. Otherwise I would highly recommend this eye doctor.

My previous experience with the staff was not pleasant and I only returned because I had trouble finding an alternative provider. But Dr. Johnson restored my faith. He showed genuine interest in my vision health, was very personable and attentive. I’m very glad that I came back. To be fair, the providers have always been great but the staff, not so much. I hope the current owners are more intentional in monitoring staff and how they interact with their patients. And again to be fair most of the staff are fine but the few that have not been were enough to send me looking for other providers.

Amazing service overall. From the call for an expedited appointment which was done very quickly, the helpful and very hospitable reception, the lady who ran my tests, the doctor who analyzed the tests and the lady who helped me pick my amazing glasses 👓. I am very thankful for your service. I just moved to the country and to the area and haven't felt that genuine welcome from anywhere else. You gave me hope that there is unscripted hospitality here. You were real. Thank you!

Trans friendly!! As a trans person, it can be scary going to any doctor especially with your name not legally changed yet. They respected my preferred name and they seem to have a lot of updated equipment. All the staff was very nice and honestly, one of the best eye doctors I have been too. Dr. Johnson was great.

The doctors have always been great and I feel that I get very thorough eye exams. But the staff is not always easy to work with. If you have to make any request that is outside the way they do things, you are treated with obvious frustration, annoyance, and unbelievable need to lecture you. Doctors, you need to pay more attention to how your staff treats your patients.

I was visiting the Arcata/Eureka area for a week on vacation. As I was getting into my rental car one morning, I bumped my head into the ceiling of the car, causing my prescription sunglasses to detach a piece of the eyeglass frame.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Samuel Johnson in addition to the assitants and other staff at A to Z Eye care. It was my first eye exam as an adult needing reading glasses, and they went over all of my options. They were friendly and knowledgeable, and had what seemed to be state of the art equipment.

This place is aces in my book. Super hands on and great communication skills. While everyone else was super professional the tech was a little rough around the edges but not in a bad way. She is clearly a diamond in the rough. She was super fun and made my experience over the top. Even when I had a question from three years ago they found someone who could sit and explain the details. Even if the staff did not know the answer they found someone who did know the answer.

These folks are all super cool, and professional, and it's a great place to come for your eye health checks and eyewear needs. I've been coming for about 20 years now, and all the doctors are great, the front desk folks are friendly and professional, and the assistants who do the testing are knowledgeable and efficient. It seems like a good place to work because people are very happy. They will give you discount if you don't have insurance and need to private pay. Definitely recommend.

Dr. Appy is the most professionally thorough, pleasant, and intelligent eye doc I've ever had. He's so nice he laughs at my stupid jokes, and he takes care of my glaucoma incredibly well. When I have scary issues with my eyes, his staff gets me in immediately. I really feel my eyes are safely, intelligently cared for. And that's a huge relief!

I have now been to this eye care facility twice and they are better than anyone other place I have been to before coming here. They are so caring, understanding the needs of there patients. I have an old pair of glasses that I love and they where able to find the exact pair for my next set of glasses. Even though they are pricy its worth every penny, I would rather deal with high price than have somewhere very cheap and not have a great exam. This place really looks deep into the eyes to make sure everything is healthy and no issues have risen that could cause problems. They really have a caring

Awful experience from the start. I was forced to pay double the going amount for a contact lens refitting, despite this place being listed as an in-network provider by my insurance. The billing woman was curt, rude and had no time for explaining my exorbitant bill. I then wanted to try a different brand of contact lens that they did not have when they gave me trial lenses. Their answer is that I need to pay them for another "refitting" in order to change my prescription. So let's get this straight: I chose the lens that you put on my prescription and now I have to pay to try a different
