Caf Marizon (Circa 1997) is a nostalgic restaurant featuring great food, with great service, with a collection of historical photographs and items of Amarillo memorabilia from days past. We have come a long way from our humble beginnings in the original Marizon clothing store building on Polk Street to our current location with parking, patio, and pick up window on Hillside.

Delicious, delicious, delicious bacon cheeseburger. The bun was baked that day, and it was almost the highlight of the burger, which is saying something. They offer tots, and that is always a plus for me. My friend had a Cobb salad and she loved it. We caught them right between lunch & dinner, but nothing suffered because of it. Got to chat with the owner for a couple of minutes. Service was great, and we'll be back. I wish they accepted AmEx.

Since having covid, i have a strange adversity to salads with preservatives. I asked our server to please bring a single leaf out so that I could see for myself is theirs was edible for my condition. They refused stating, "we don't give out samples"

I had high expectations for this place, but was completely disappointed. As soon as we walked in we felt uncomfortable. It's clearly an extremist republican ran establishment. The staff and most of the customers were Anglo. I'm not sure what's going on in there but it's definitely not welcoming. Food was bland and tasteless. Had to add pepper and salt to everything. Will not be going back. The cook kept staring and at us while we ate, yeah it was THAT weird.

First time trying this place. The soup of the day (chicken & sausage gumbo) was pretty bland. Bread was delicious and seemed very fresh, maybe even homemade. Side salad was pretty small. Prices are a little on the higher side for soup and sandwiches. Just under $15 for a half sandwich, soup and a side salad.

Waitress was wonderful, food good. The only complaint, and it was a deal breaker, was I went to the restroom and was looking at the Amarillo history displayed on the wall outside of the of the door. A woman came out of the kitchen and I was told I wasn't allowed to spend that much time looking(since they didn't own the pictures ) and had to go back to my seat. I guess they assumed I was a liberal and was up to no good. Felt very uncomfortable. Good place, but felt very unwelcome.

Atmosphere and look of cafe were enjoyable. Food unfortunately was subpar. I ordered chicken fried chicken, wife had grilled chicken. Mashed potatoes were pretty flavorless, homemade bread very bland and tasteless. Side salad for both wife and I was so gritty like not washed, we couldn't eat it. My daughter ordered peach cobbler for dessert and they were out. Are you kidding? Early Friday night when most people out and you don't plan to have enough. Overall overpriced, bland and not a good experience. Won't be back.

Nice place for good ol' comfort food and sandwiches and more. Hubs is a tough sell trying a new place but the food here is delicious! We had the roast beef and chicken fried chicken. Eyeballed other patrons dishes and they looked good! Ordered their sampler salad plate to take home for lunches this week. You get 4 BIG scoops of their signature salads... ham, chicken, egg, and tuna (yup... I'm lazy!). Please check this new restaurant out!

The decor in this place feels like home. The waitstaff was very attentive and helpful, though there was a little confusion when we first came in between servers on their sections. Almost everything that touched our table was homemade and fresh. I had the cheese burger, and the crispy fresh made bread was what sent it over the top for me. My wife's French dip was made almost more of a pot roast than a roast beef and it was great. The chocolate cake for dessert was the cherry on top for this meal. Add in the happy hour beer specials and I would recommend this gem to anyone in town.

This evening I went to Cafe Marizon with my dad, my fiancé, and my baby nephew. They weren't very busy so we chose a seat and the server came over and got drink orders.
My dad ordered the roast beef dinner - it came with the roast, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, salad and bread. The roast had wonderful flavor, and it was very tender. His only complaint was that the mashed potatoes were lukewarm - he asked the server if she could bring some out that were hotter, and even those were barely warm. He raved about the roast beef, though.

Patty melt with fries. bread burnt, patty overcooked and dry. would have benefited from dressing, sauce or more cheese. fries were not hot/fresh, and server spilled several on floor as she placed my plate on the table. no check back on my satisfaction. had been told that this was good place, very disappointed.
