I am a New Orleans photographer who specializes in weddings, portraits, and other events throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. I began my business as a professional wedding photographer in 2005, and have photographed almost 700 weddings, numerous other events, and many engagement and bridal portrait sessions.
Photography is my full-time occupation, not a side-job, and weddings and other events represent the vast majority of my work. I also enjoy shooting family portraits and seniors. Before starting my photography business, I worked for over 12 years in the advertising graphics field, primarily performing imaging-related work such as graphic design, photo scanning, and photo color correction.

This gallery consists of some of my favorite photos of my couples in their wedding attire. Some were just quick, impromptu shots captured during the couple's first look or just during the natural course of the wedding day, while others were taken during time specifically set aside for this purpose before or after the ceremony, or during the reception.
A good business portrait can make a tremendous impact on how people view you and your company. Doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, financial advisors, consultants, or any other businessperson can benefit. I'm located in Slidell, Louisiana, but I work throughout the greater New Orleans area. I work exclusively on-location, which means rather than you having to make time to come to a studio, I bring the studio to YOU.
Bridal portraits are a southern wedding tradition, and are typically done a month or two before the big day. While photographs can be captured of the bride by herself on the day of the wedding, a bridal portrait session allows for a wider variety of pictures with more location flexibility, looser time constraints, and a more relaxed mindset than the wedding day would typically allow.
I wholeheartedly recommend doing an engagement portrait session. What is an engagement portrait? It's a portrait session with the couple, usually (but not always) at an outdoor location, most often in casual outfits, in most cases taking place well before the wedding day.
The main purpose of an engagement portrait is, of course, to capture some nice photographs of you and your fiance, both just for the sake of having them, and to use for wedding-related things.But it also gives the three of us an opportunity to work together and get to know each other a bit more, plus helps get you used to being photographed if this is something you are not accustomed to or are very comfortable with.

Michael Caswell Photography went ABOVE AND BEYOND from the first time I spoke with him. I reached out to a photographer who was booked on my date so she gave me some referrals and cc’d them as well. Michael was very professional from the start, being a destination elopement, this was very important to me. He answered all my numerous questions promptly and also made suggestions based on his experience in similar events. He was open to suggestions on the event day as to where we wanted to have portraits taken. His work speaks for itself. Our elopement portraits were amazing and so many to choose from. He captured one of the happiest days of our lives and I am so grateful. You cant go wrong hiring him for your special day!

Seeing that this was my first wedding experience, the photography process was very confusing to me. Mr. Caswell answered any questions I had, he explained so much more for me to get a better understanding and took hundreds of pictures! He was everywhere and made sure he captured the most important moments! He was very considerate by asking if there were any family/personal issues in order to not put anyone in an awkward position, that meant a lot to me!!! The pictures turned out wonderful and beyond my expectations! He is amazing!!

With many last minute changes due to COVID, Michael was so flexible, as well as helpful in suggestions for solutions to be sure to capture the MOST SPECTACULAR wedding pictures! I would HIGHLY recommend your choosing Michael Caswell Photography! My husband and I got married at St. Mary's (Ursuline Convent) and had our reception at the Roosevelt (Blue Room) in December 2019. Michael did a truly incredible job when it came to photographing our wedding. The quality of the photos was amazing - even the ones at night and in the dark venue - but beyond this he captured the various moments of our wedding day in such a beautiful way. I could not begin to express how happy we are with our wedding photos. Michael was incredibly detail-oriented from the beginning. Planning a wedding from 300+ miles away is never easy. Luckily I had a great planner who gave me all the top choices for every vendor I needed. I was given 4 options for a photographer and after looking through each website, there were no questions of who I wanted to photograph my biggest day! Michael was the nicest, easy-going photographer I’ve ever been in contact with. I could email him at any given time with any sort of question and he would always immediately respond. Michael was an absolute joy to work with. I was overwhelmed with trying to organize a wedding in NOLA while planning from Baltimore. We had great email dialogue with Michael and met him a couple days before our wedding to discuss how best to capture photos in the park. Michael Caswell was amazing!! We had our wedding in Jackson Square followed by a reception at Pat Obrien's. Michael captured every single moment and our photos turned out perfect! He accommodated all of our requests on photo locations and took us to a few cool spots in the French quarter to get some more awesome pictures. He was friendly and so easy to work with. He responds immediately to emails and kept us in the loop on each step. But again, our photos are seriously perfect. I recommend Michael Caswell 1,000 percent.

LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! my experience with Michael for my wedding. He was very attentive to our needs and easy to work with. I cannot say enough about Michael Caswell. I chose him after seeing his impressive work and reading all the great reviews. I reached out to him and he was super quick in replying. Thankfully he was available for my wedding date. Michael was everything you could expect, and more, in a photographer. He documented our elopement at the beautiful Algiers Courthouse and then knew all the right spots in the French Quarter to take us for some additional post ceremony shots. He was prompt and the picture quality was great. As someone who isn't big on "pictures" I found that Michael made the photo process quick and comfortable. I highly recommend!

Michael is an excellent photographer, which anyone can see by taking a look at his portfolio. We hired him to photograph our wedding at The Terrell House this April.
He was prompt, professional, and continually corresponded with me prior to the wedding to allow me to communicate what I would like to see in respect to the photos taken.

We initially chose Michael because we were drawn to his style of photography, which combines a beautiful photojournalistic style with an amazing artistic attention to detail. Michael did not disappoint! Throughout our evening which combined a ton of activities with a ton of people, Michael photographed as if there were 10 of him. He captured every single moment so beautifully and I cannot look at our beautifully-created album without re-experiencing the joy of that wonderful day. I would highly recommend his work to anyone, we were SO pleased!!
