Criminal charges can cloud your life. If you or someone close to you have been accused and arrested of a crime, you are likely considering what to do next, and wondering what your next move might be. The criminal justice system is generally an overwhelming and confusing process for someone to go through.
Assault charges can come in a variety of different charges and a countless factual circumstances. How a person gets charged, or what charge they will be facing will depend on the facts of the case. What happened? How severe were the injuries? Who was injured? How were they injured? What are the circumstances?
If you are charged with aggravated assault, it is vital to consult with a lawyer to discuss your charge and develop a plan of action. It is important early on in the process to plan, prepare, and begin to implement your defense. Aggravated assault is a very serious felony charge in Texas, and if you are arrested for this it is important not to take it lightly.
In the Texas Penal Code, assault bodily injury is essentially a situation in which one person is accused of causing pain to another person. Bodily injury is essentially defined as pain in Texas, and it doesn't matter what degree of pain. I come across and defend these charges on a regular basis. Unfortunately, many people are accused of assault bodily injury with a "victim" who wants nothing to do with the case, and not much other evidence.
The assault statue in Texas is complicated. There are many ways a person can commit an assault in Texas; and, likewise, there are a variety of different penalties. It can be found in Section 22.01 of the Texas Penal Code. At its most simple definition, assault essentially means causing bodily injury.

Andrew went above and beyond to help me with my case. He prevented me from serving time, was able to get my court fees waived, and secured the best plea deal I could’ve gotten. He was on top of everything when it came to gathering everything we needed for court to help put me in the best position when we went to trial. I cannot recommend Mr. Deegan strongly enough! Most amazing lawyer anybody could ask for! I was illegally stopped & the officer didn’t have the probable cause he said he did to stop me & was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
