The lobby and conference rooms are gorgeous, very historic. The rooms however are very dated and worn, the elevator was broken and evidently has been for quite some time so you have to call the front desk to get someone to operate the service elevator for you which is all manual controls that is if you can get them to answer. The parking garage should be condemned, scary. So overall it's very overpriced by about double as compared to other worn out hotels.

A once popular hotel that's newly renovated with much of the original features that gives the feel of going back in time. Access your room with an actual key and sleep where celebrities of old slept - a frame with name of celebrity that also occupied a room is located outside each door. Located in an old coal mining town - much history to enjoy in this forgotten but amazing town with beautiful mountain hills to explore.

Response to owner of THE MOUNTAINEER HOTEL, WILLIAMSON, WV I called your hotel two seperate nights during THANKSGIVING weekend and was told BOTH nights you had single rooms available... Don't need to double check name and don't think ONE vehicle in your parking building is "capacity" ...Just think you need to make it clear when someone ask if you have availability, that you make clear that you don't welcome "locals" lol smh I do want to say there was two employees working, and the younger lady was very nice and helpful... older one, completely opposite

We had a wonderful stay this weekend. The young gentleman who checked us in late Friday night was so kind and accommodating. The front desk staff Saturday morning assisted us with riding permits and gave us fantastic information. We plan on coming back to the area soon and will definitely stay here again. Loved this historic hotel. Nice rooms and lovely staff!!!

My husband and I staying here for 2 night maybe 3. We are UTV the Hatfield-McCoy Buffalo, Devil Anse, and Rockhouse trails. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary - Carrie the General Manager surprised us with a bouquet of flowers beyond thoughtful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has character and history. Must see and experience the atmosphere

What an absolutely wonderful surprise. It is so nice to see a gem like this historic old hotel being lovingly restored and brought back to life. Dozens of famous people have stayed here through history and each of the rooms is named for one of the celebrities who stayed at The Mountaineer. How cool is it to say that we stayed in the John F. Kennedy room, and to know that he may have stayed in that very room.

The owner of the mountaineer hotel is a very rude man.... I hope that no one in their right mind would have to ever stay at this hotel. He thinks the public shouldn't be able to stand on a sidewalk and have fun or enjoy the company of friends just having a conversation because he says in his words, "people won't stay or even stop to rent a hotel room because, they're are people near the entrance to the hotel". He himself thinks that people shouldn't be able to have the right to gather in any acapect i wouldnt ever stay there if that is the last way he treats the general

Wonderful experience if there are ghosts - possibly they are friendly. Clean and comfortable- bed was comfy and plush with newer pillows. Nice quality towels & not too expensive but not cheap. I stayed in a hot tub room - my only complaint is the yellow stain that forms around the top of the water while in the tub & once you get out. Also the bubbles turn yellow-ish while relaxing in the tub. It's not necessarily oily but I did voice my concern. The cleaning lady told me the maintenance would check into it - however second night the yellow stuff formed again on the top of the water

Really loved our stay at the Mountaineer Hotel. Stayed in a jacuzzi room that was relaxing and really clean. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nicely updated with warm colored tiles. The staff is excellent. They bent over backwards to make our stay pleasant. Their location can't be beat for Williamson. And each room is named with a special someone who stayed in the room in the past. Would stay here every time I go to Williamson.

Pictures above and aligned to the website displays this unique atmosphere but doesn't reveal the incredible hospitality for the twenty guests in our party. Free parking, WIFI accessibility both in the room and lobby, provided access for me to work and enjoy relaxed conversations with other hotel guests. Each room is identified to a particular West Virginia notable.
