John Boehs found his love of woodworking as early as high school. After many years of working for other custom cabinet shops, John and Peggy Boehs moved to Chester NJ in 1963 to open their own custom cabinet shop. After many years, the town of Chester began its transformation into the tourist destination it is today.
Over time, it became harder and harder to keep up with custom furniture orders and the walk-in customers. After 40 years of custom cabinet work, the decision was made to focus exclusively on the retail store. In 1993, Lisa (John and Peggy's daughter) decided to join the family business and has become an essential part of the store operations.

The Warmth of Wood (Boehs Cabinet Shop) is a family owned and operated business which has been in operaton at the same location in the heart of historic Chester, NJ since 1963.
