Services
Born in Lenexa, KS Dr. Porter attended Kansas State University and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in the spring of 2010. Dr. Porter focuses mainly on small animal medicine and surgery, although he does enjoy the occasional equine work. Dr. Porter is married to Dr. Kristina Porter (a local large animal veterinarian).
When you are looking for a veterinary care clinic you should be able to count on superior care and excellent service. We at James Valley Veterinary Clinic in Huron SD have assembled an expert team of veterinary professionals to bring you the best possible health care for your pet. We have a state of the art veterinary facility which is clean, comfortable, and efficient.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. 2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and Discover) checks (for all returned checks there will be a $35 returned check charge added to the client's account) and cash.
We believe physical examinations are as or more important than annual vaccinations. Your pet ages much faster than you, and is much better at coping with or hiding illness. Dr. Porter often find signs of disease in pets that owners believe are completely healthy. By finding disease processes early it is much easier to intervene and to have a positive impact.
As in human surgery, successful surgical outcomes require extreme attention to detail. In each step of the surgical process, starting well before anesthesia, the staff at James Valley Veterinary Clinic strive to provide a comfortable, safe surgical experience for their patients. A small amount of blood is drawn from each patient for a pre-anesthesia blood screen.

Prompt service but poor quality. They were able to see my cat right away but poorly diagnosed him and said he could come home same day, a few hours after I dropped him off. My cat had gotten worse overnight at home. I called them in the middle of the night and they basically shrugged it off. I took him to see another vet the next day who did help my cat get better.
