We stayed 2 weeks. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The showers and bathrooms are clean and well kept with great hot water pressure. The campsite can get a little sloppy when it rains but nothing a little gravel and grading wouldn't fix. We will plan to return here again in the future. More sites need to be upgraded to full hookup but perhaps that's not economically feasible.

Super clean bathrooms!! Great selection of food (kitchen and snacks). Friendly employees. We didn’t camp here but will definitely stay when we come back through with our rig.

Very, very clean and nice individual shower rooms/restrooms. Gas station on site along with great convenience store. Most sites are close together which is typical of many RV parks but many also backed to woods which we really liked. Situated between Deadwood and Mount Rushmore which worked for us to see all the different sites. If you want to spend most of your time in Deadwood you might want to find a location closer to town. If you are going to see lots of things in the area, this is a good place to start. Checkout Mickelson trail in Deadwood along with Chubby Chipmonk chocolate store.

Many vendors set up for the Sturgis Motorcycle rally. Fuel prices were what they were. If you need fuel does it matter the cost? The place was busy. Nice clean store with clean restrooms. Friendly staff.
Nice stop!

Camp sites are well maintained. People are friendly and respectful. Trail behind the camp ground is fairly groomed and a pretty easy ride. Campgrounds have everything you need, gas, well stocked store.

For a tourist stop it is well stocked. They even have vendors in the parking lot. I use to trap when I was much younger and enjoyed looking at the furs.
And before you pass judgement on trapping remember that the human race would have froze to death without the furs that was hunted or trapped.
The furs were well tanned and I did not see a single fur that I wouldn't have been proud of owning, but since my wife has different ideas I did not buy one. And she did not want me to take any pictures. Sorry

Recently stayed in a cabin at Steelwheel and it was very clean. Bathrooms and showers are the cleanest I have ever seen at a campground. Would definitely recommend staying if you are planning a trip to Deadwood.

Good place to lay your head after a long day. Beautiful scenery and friendly staff. If you need to offload a bike the campground next door has a good spot! Had an amazing ride through Deadwood, Strugis and Lead (Lead is a must see....shut down gold mine, very impressive)......FYI short RV sites unless you get a pull through. AND WiFi is pretty much non existent. 😏
