It was a pleasure working with Chris and Advantage Real Estate to secure an apartment in Boston! Chris went above and beyond throughout the process; he worked with me virtually since I was out of state, answered emails promptly, managed my preferences, and somehow made everything work. It is December 8th and they havent turned the heat on for the past 2 days. It is currently 19 degrees outside so you can imagine how cold it is inside. They often don't turn the heat on so it is freezing. Other people in the building that I am friends with experience the same thing. We are all college students and they treat us like S**t.
In October we had someone come by to check the actual radiators and they were perfectly fine, so it definitely isn't our fault for not opening the valves.

Do not rent from these people. They will not fix any problems like rain flowing in the windows or no heat. When you move out don't expect any money back. They make stuff up like charging you for a dirty oven. It was filthy when I moved in but they took off $350 of the SD when I moved out. I guarantee they did not clean it!!
Document everything and do not pay cash for anything!!

My wife and I had a three days to find an apartment before moving up from Atlanta. Our realtor that had been working with us bailed, another delayed an appointment, and the one place we got to see was a dump. Enter Josiah. My partner and I worked with Josiah Hendricks to find an apartment after moving to Boston. He was so helpful, and was one of the only realtors we met who really respected our budget and took time to get to know us and get a feel for what we like. He drove us between neighbourhoods to look at different places since we didn't have a car, and at no point did it feel like he was putting pressure on us to make a sale. Advantage really made the lease signing for our new apartment super easy. Our agent, Chris Taylor, was very helpful and flexible with the dates of the payments we had to make prior to move in. He was understanding that we were still paying rent at our current apartment and that adding essentially a second rent payment was tough. We went looking for a three bedroom apartment in the North End. Last minute, one of our roommates dropped and suddenly we were late in the game trying to find a two bedroom apartment. I spent the past year searching for my first home, and Chris Taylor was enormously helpful, extremely responsive and endlessly patient throughout the process. Chris Taylor did not meet any of our expectations. He did not list our rental place until a month after we contacted him as our rental agent and that was because we could not find it when we searched online. He knew he was dealing with scheduled personal commitments but did not tell his colleagues to take care of my case when he was out of the office/on vacation.
After contacting him, he listed the apartment but the street address was not listed, therefore making the apt search unable to be located correctly. He also reused some old pictures from when we bought the apartment, not the news ones

NEVER RENT WITH THIS COMPANY! No matter how bad your other choices are, I am positive they are better than this.
I have never written a review in my life, but I feel compelled to write one now. Upon moving in I was told that I could only expect a sweep cleaned apartment. Then when I moved out, I received my security deposit back with a $250 deduction for cleaning. There is not a cleaner in the world who would charge $250 to merely sweep a two bedroom apartment.

We started with Chris and Xavier when we were looking for someone to list are our apartment for rent, we had given it to two other realtors previously who guaranteed they could get someone but never had a single showing. I am a lowly college student who struggled to find a cheap apartment until I came to advantage. Chris went out of his way to get my apartment settled within just days of me contacting him. He even stayed late on a Friday night to get a lease signed when the first one I tried for didn't work out. The apartments I saw were relevant, affordable, and nice. No matter what you're looking for, I would highly recommend advantage. They are professional and helpful (definitely not creepy like you might find with other cheap realty places). Such a wonderful first time renting experience.

I wish there was an option to give 0 stars as I feel that is a more fitting rating. All the reviews are in favor of Chris Taylor, however, I moved in 3 years ago and all of the agents who were working for Advantage at the time have since left. Our experience with our real estate agent was horrendous as she made promises that were not kept. When the apartment was showed to us it was in unlivable conditions and my roommates and I were reassured that the apartment would be cleaned prior to the move in date.
