Each resident is responsible for choosing his or her personal physician. Residents may contact their physician by telling the charge nurse they wish to see their physician or by calling their physician themselves. The charge nurse will notify the resident when their physician is to visit or will arrange an appointment at the physician's office.

Monday through Friday before 2:00 P.M. New residents to Cheraw Healthcare are admitted on the availability of the appropriate vacancies. Admissions are made Monday through Friday before 2:00 p.m. with late afternoon and weekend admissions when necessary and by prior arrangement.

Prior to admission, each resident must have a current diagnosis, mini-mental if necessary, PASARR, medical history and physical examination by their physicians, chest x-ray or TB skin test, and admitting orders; which include diet, medications, treatments and recommended activities.The physician will specify the appropriate level of care, allergies, and rehab potential, summary and course of treatment from the discharge facility.
