Services
Avenue Animal Hospital was the first veterinary clinic to open in Tinley Park, IL in the early 1970s. Dr. James P. Wahl purchased the clinic in 1987 and has been here ever since. For the first 20 years, Dr. Wahl was the sole practitioner, but the practice has slowly expanded from a small 900-square-foot facility to a 4,500-square-foot facility with four veterinarians.
Avenue Animal Hospital is a full-service, state-of-the-art veterinary practice in Tinley Park, IL. Our practice is AAHA-certified and our staff is Fear Free-certified, meaning that we have completed thorough training on how to make veterinary visits less stressful for pets!

She graduated and received her CVT license from Joliet Junior College in 2001. Her favorite thing about veterinary medicine is being able to support and manage the health of furry, non-verbal patients. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time doing all the outdoor activities, swimming, RV camping, bike riding and more, with her husband Mikey, daughter, Kaitlyn, and son Toby.
A comprehensive yearly exam can help us to monitor the health of your pet, particularly as he/she ages. These exams also play a large part in early detection of health conditions that are best treated as soon as possible. We think of this annual exam as a preventative "physical" for your pet. Vaccines, fecal testing, heartworm/tick disease testing, and feline leukemia/FIV testing are usually done at this time.
At Avenue Animal Hospital, we recommend vaccines to dogs depending on their lifestyle, environment, and risk factors. It's also important to note that even pets who live primarily indoors should be vaccinated, as they can still be exposed to a disease. Your Avenue Animal Hospital veterinarian can advise you which vaccinations are required or recommended for your pet based on age, health, and lifestyle.

I’ve been taking my dogs to Avenue Animal Hospital for years. As far back as when it was just a small White House with maybe one exam room. First vet that took care of my rescued greyhounds. The only one I knew of at the time.
Miss seeing Dr. Wahl there but his staff is amazing.
I will continue to take my 9 year old border terrier mix, Milo there for incredible care!!

The staff at Avenue is fantastic! We recently moved to the area and were looking for a new vet for our two dogs. When I called to schedule an appointment the front desk staff were so nice and I was easily able to schedule separate appointments. I was also impressed they requested my dogs vet records for me. The day of our first appointment we received a warm welcome even with my big guy not being very friendly. We barely had to wait in the exam room before the tech came in. She took a bunch of information and Dr. Snell came in soon after that. They worked with my not so friendly big guy and never

Took both my dogs there for the first time today and wow was I impressed! We were brought back to a room as soon as we got there and within 5 minutes one of my dogs was already being brought back by the tech to get his vitals and what not. Appointment was at 3:30 and I was out by 4:05 for 2 dogs! The dr was super nice and took his time with my lab who was super hyper. He even got down on the floor to examine him. 10/10 recommend!! We used to go to Midwest animal hospital which was a nightmare. We’ll never go back there! I’m glad we were recommended to this vet now.

I just cannot say enough about these folks. From the front desk personnel to the doctor and his vet techs, wow I am impressed~ I have owned pets for 40+ years and have paid dearly for average or worse. Now I have found gold and can afford to be a hover pet mom once again. I highly recommend, they are terrific !!!

We have used Avenue Animal Hospital since our dog was a puppy, 4 1/2 years ago. Everyone we've had the pleasure to associate with has been exceptional in helping our dog and our family get the best attention when needed. We travel from Crete, Illinois because it's the right decision for our dog and our family. Other vets take care of animals, Avenue Animal Hospital takes care of the family and your pet. They have been special to us and our dog!
