This one is very long, but please read. There are four main points I address: a) slow reception, b) extremely questionable treatment, c) poor patient care, and d) odd fees/useless treatments.
a) I've been here 3 times, but it honestly felt like 5. Every time I came in for my appointment, I had to wait over 30 minutes until I could see the doctor. I overheard a customer complaining directly to the receptionist, who replied that they were understaffed. Regardless, it was an annoyance.
b) On my 2nd visit, I told them about some on-and-off foot pain I've had for years. After an X-ray, they told me

This place has nice doctors which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. The wait times are insane. You can have an appointment for 9:15 am and not leave till 12 pm. They also charge you so much for everything. I find myself paying copays left and right for multiple tests done on a small tear in my foot. Then I get hit with an email weeks later saying the insurance didn’t pay and I have to pay the remainder (which is just mind boggling to me). Overall it’s a decent place but just be wary of the wait times and insane testing asked of you every visit.

Horrible experience. Dr.Vargas did surgery on foot and at very last minute (day of surgery) he suggested to add an implant, I feel like he only added the implant to get more money from the insurance. After recovery, my foot was not the same, not allowing me to walk properly or run. Now I have to go to a different foot specialist to remove it because it’s causing problems, the specialist had told me that the implant was never needed and has no idea why he would put it.

Dr. Alicia Johnson is an amazing doctor and surgeon. Extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, impeccable bedside manner, never feel rushed regardless of how busy she is.
Now here are the cons or my negative experiences that have been consistent from day one. Her staff is terrible with communication. They are all friendly for the most part but you can never get anyone to call you back or respond, despite text messages, voicemail and portal message use. I have to jump through hoops to actually talk to someone every single time. Sounds like a management issue which is terrible relating to patient services

Last July I visited Dr. Vargas for help with my painful bunions. He told me everything regarding surgery and the treatments that were available to me through the healing process, such as laser therapy and physical therapy. The main thing I liked about our discussion was that I would be walking in a few days. He was right! I did have two surgeries—one for the right foot in July and one for the left foot in October. I was able to walk with a boot on my first post op visit for 5-6 weeks following each surgery. With the help of laser therapy and physical therapy, I was able to walk pain free. This

Sugar Land Foot & Ankle Associates practice is a joke and very questionable. Good luck with scheduling because we had to reschedule multiple times at their request. Then is some billing questions that still have not been answered along with Dr. Vargas selling us braces that were not needed after we sought an opinion from another doctor who in… turn corrected our issue. I knew something was suspicious when they insisted we sign a document that we cannot return the braces once they are sold. I have since learned this is a common practice by this office of selling things that really aren

Had a broken foot multiple times and was broken and repaired by another local podiatrist but was not healing correctly after 3 years it didn’t look like I’d would ever be any better. Went to see Dr Steinkie at FAANT and he corrected it with three steel plates and 15 screws. Needless to say it was pretty messed up and he worked his magic on the mess… that was there. 5-6 months later I am back to working out normally. Will always have some uncomfortable times after walking multiple miles or staying on my feet for 10-12 hours but I’m extremely happy and getting better everyday

6 months and my spouse still does not have a working set of orthotics. We have called them over and over again for the past 6 months. They never return our calls, they do not update the records showing that we called. Their response is they will call the orthotic company to see what the issue is and will call us back. Weeks go by without hearing a… word from them, so we call again and get the same response. Dealing with the office staff has been extremely frustrating! At this point we just want our money back! The next complaint we file will be with the Better Business Bureau! Don't waste
