Depending on who you ask, you might get slightly different answers to that question. At Wolverine Martial Arts, we think of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (commonly called BJJ) the ever-evolving, all-encompassing grappling art. What is unique about BJJ, and what makes it so powerful, is that it continues to evolve.
At Wolverine Martial Arts, your child will gain confidence, understand humility, value hard work, cultivate grit, and, have a heck of a lot of fun. Our children's classes are primarily focused on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a martial art known for its effectiveness in self defense, but it is also a martial art that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and trial and error-not to mention fun!
Our adult classes include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Judo, and Jeet Kune Do. Walking into a martial arts school for the first time, can feel incredibly intimidating. After all, if you've never done martial arts before, it can be nerve-wracking to walk into a room full of martial artists! At Wolverine Martial Arts, that's something you don't need to worry about.
Wolverine Martial Arts is proudly affiliated with Combat Base, an organization founded by BJJ living legend Chris Haueter. Haueter is one of BJJ's "Dirty Dozen, " one of the twelve (the fifth, to be exact) non-Brazilian black belts. Combat Base is not only concerned with top-notch jiu jitsu, but is also intensely focused on teaching jiu jitsu effectively.

I cannot say enough about Wolverine. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Everybody is on their own journey in life and in BJJ. Wherever you are on your journey there is a place for you here. Whatever skill level, reason or purpose for your training, this is the place for you. Most importantly, its about those that you meet along the way, the impact they have on your growth personally and in the sport. Wolverine is more than just a great place to train, its a great community. I can't imagine training anywhere else.

If you are serious about learning martial arts for you and/or your children, Wolverine Martial Arts is the best place for it. I trained for 4 years and earned a black belt in a different martial art, but in just a few months of studying at Wolverine, I really feel like I learned more than I did in 4 years. Also, the community in WMA is tremendous. I've made some great friends already, and the learning environment is only positive. It doesn't matter if you are old (like me) and have limited time or if you want to compete, the place is great for training. My son goes as well, so it's a family affair

I've been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with coach Scott at Wolverine Martial Arts for 6 months and have learned a tremendous amount. Scott is an excellent teacher and makes even the most complicated moves easily understood. The other students are tremendous people to train with and the environment is very welcoming and friendly. I tried one session of BJJ 10 years ago and at the time I didn't think it was for me. Sometimes I think that if Wolverine had been the school that I tried I would have stuck with it.
My 6 year old also takes kids classes here and has gained so much self-confidence. Coach

I have trained in multiple martial arts over the past 7 years, having gained my black belt in Tang Soo Do, state champion fighter for the past 2 years, 3rd in the US and 5th in the world. Coach Scott is a great instructor who truly has a passion for teaching that shines through during his classes. It is an amazing school for anybody young, old, new or veteran martial artists and I highly recommend it to anybody interested in training!!!!

Wolverine Martial Arts is not the average martial arts gym. Egotistical and macho attitudes are left at the door. While learning valuble skills from some of the best teachers around, you will build great relationships with some of the nicest people you will ever meet! This is the best place in the area to train!

This is a great family friendly place to learn martial arts and grow as a person. My kids and I have trained with coach Scott for years. He’s an excellent instructor and fantastic with kids! This gym has an awesome chill environment that makes it fun and safe for people from all walks of life to train. If you’re looking for self defense, exercise, confidence or competition or any combination of the sort this gym has something for everyone. It’s also worth mentioning the students there are very welcoming and willing to help new comers feel welcome.

I’ve trained with Wolverine Martial Arts for roughly seven years, off and on, and I have to say you’d be hard pressed to find a more dedicated, down to earth, non-egotistical group of folks with which to train. Their well-rounded approach, combining standing game striking/takedowns with BJJ ground game is ideally the best self-defense a person could learn. If you’re just looking for exercise and increasing your level of physical activity, join Wolverine. If you’re experienced in BJJ and want to improve your game, join Wolverine. If you’re looking for a non-meat head atmosphere to train

Wolverine Martial Arts is a top notch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) club. Both gi and no gi instruction are available. Judo for BJJ and Jeet Kune Do (JKD) are also available. The club is friendly to all ages and genders. Children, women and older practitioners are all welcome and accounted for currently. I’ve improved my knowledge of the grappling arts and gotten in better shape at the same time.

If you live in the Grand Blanc/Holly area and are interested in self defense training this is your place. The owner is kind, caring, and really good with kids. Both of his children have practiced Jui Jitsu with my kids in a fun respectful manor. It’s nice to see defensive training used as such a positive proactive tool.
