Deciding to begin therapy for the first time or finding a new therapist to continue the work you've done in the past can be a daunting venture. Much of the research on the effectiveness of therapy suggests that the type of therapeutic approach does not have much impact on how effective therapy is, but rather the relationship between you and your therapist is primary in determining how much you will get out of therapy.
Selecting a therapist that you feel comfortable with can usually be determined by first setting up a consultation session and then meeting with your new therapist for a few sessions.

Throughout my career I have worked in a private practice setting and met with a diverse population of adults, teens, families and couples. In addition to private practice, I've worked in a variety of schools throughout the Bay Area providing individual and group therapy.
Although I enjoy working with all age groups, my greatest strength and deepest passion is helping young people navigate the ever-changing waters of adolescence and young adulthood.Since licensure, I've continued to grow and refine my therapeutic skills. It is important to me to stay informed about adolescent culture, language, music, and trends.

Over the 30 years of my psychotherapy practice, I've found an exploratory approach to be especially helpful. I aim to provide a safe and open environment in which anything can be explored in words. I pay close attention not only to what you say, but how you say it, and what you don't say.
In this way I can help you find the sources of trouble in your life, understand more deeply what is meaningful to you, and make the changes in your life that reflect these insights.I work with a range of people - teens and adults, men and women, straight and LGBTQ.

I will work collaboratively with you to investigate, discover and uncover the underlying conflicts and family dynamics that are interfering with your capacity to develop your full potential. We will work hard together to reach your goals. We will do this by initially developing a trusting relationship where you feel understood, respected, and listened to.
Raising a teenager is not easy. It can be a difficult and challenging time and requires a different set of skills compared to parenting a younger child. When working with parents I am sensitive to the fact that you are trusting me with your child, I will meet with you periodically to discuss your concerns, to gain more information from you, to answer questions, and will work collaboratively with you to help support your teen.
Treatment of Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACAs) focuses on the special problems of people who have grown up in a family where one or both parents abused alcohol. Life in your family may have been characterized by dysfunction, emotional deprivation, lack of trust, and the shame and secrecy associated with your parents unpredictable moods or behavior.

I saw Sally when she was first starting out .She was doing work at my high school seeing a small group of us. I was a challenging teen with many issues stemming from my home life. She was loving and kind yet stern when I was trying to pull the wool over her eyes. She has a sixth sense with teens, she did with us. I found a letter from one of the boys in our group the other day and I thought of her and all she did for us. He owns his own business and lives in a 2 million dollar house , in the letter he talks about suicide and drugs and do I think the group will help.Yes it helped. She helped all
