We bought a house with an existing Vector system. Immediately, we realized half the system was nonfunctional and there were two layers of abandoned equipment. As a new customer, Vector did come reset the system and remove their old equipment. Off to a positive start.
The first off putting moment came when we wanted to add new features to the system. We ordered a driveway alert from Vector. They installed two huge pieces of equipment, one in the yard and one in the house. The piece in the house, the receiver, was the size of a shoebox and was clearly very old. Cheap plastic fades to a dirty yellow

Worst customer service ever. You call them up, your connection gets dropped. You finally speak to someone, and they can't answer your question. Somebody is scheduled to come out, but you have to wait weeks and they're likely to cancel or perhaps show up but not have a necessary part.
I have Vector because my house came with it, but I would never recommend them to anyone.
