It was founded in 1956 by Clarence and Marietta Vickroy when they moved from Geneseo to Monmouth. After settling in Monmouth, the Vickroy family and their business continued to grow.

When we have been Furniture shopping, we always end up finding just what we want at Vickroy's. It's generally in stock, and at a fair price. I wish we could always come here first but it's a long drive from our home. It seems that it is always worth the drive, in the end, when we get what we want. As another reviewer or two has mentioned, the personal customer service can be iffy. The staff seems a little like good cop, bad cop. But like that analogy, the results are generally successful. I enjoy all who work there, real people, with real emotions. This is our favorite furniture store.

Rudest phone conversation ever! Person actually said “this story is getting old real fast”!!! Told me that’s why I should shop local and hung up on me! I HAD bought my furniture online from a different company, and called to see if we could have a furniture tech come repair a drawer that is stuck, with the other company footing the bill! Apparently if you don’t shop at Vickroy’s, they won’t give you the time of day, so don’t ask!
