Services
Bring your current insurance cards to your appointment. Payment of any co-pay or non-covered service is expected at the time of service. Medicare does not cover routine eye examinations or refractions (examination for glasses.) If your insurance plan requires a referral, please call your primary care provider a few days before your visit to arrange for the referral.
The macula is a small but vital part of the retina. The macula is responsible for your central vision. When you read, thread a needle, or perform any other activity that requires you to see fine details, you are using your macula. When the macula does not function as it should, objects appear distorted, blurry or may seem to disappear.
A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye. For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is like looking through a fog. Most cataracts develop slowly and don't disturb your eyesight early on. At first, stronger lighting and a change in your eyeglasses may help.
As cataracts progress, the following symptoms can occur: decreased night vision and glare or halos from lights, fading of colors, and seeing double images with one eye.The lens is located behind the colored part of your eye and is a living and constantly growing structure.

The conjunctiva is a thin layer of skin that covers the inside of your eyelids and the white (sclera) of your eye. The conjunctiva produces mucus to lubricate the eye and protect it from bacteria and other irritants. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva. Conjunctivitis has many different causes, including infections.
If you have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, your body has difficulty using and storing sugar. High blood sugar levels cause many health problems such as heart attacks, strokes and other blood vessel complications, including diabetic retinopathy. Prolonged periods of elevated blood sugar can also cause fluid to accumulate in the lens of the eye, the part of the eye that controls focusing.

Don't waste your time, tried to make a appointment with them and was told that I would need a referral, well had my doctor fax one over and never got a call back, so the next day I call them they said they didn't receive it, call my doc again they sent another one, still never received a call back. And tbe first place why do I need a referral, apparently their billing system is messed up.

Handful of staff members are very friendly. The rest have awful customer service skills. They do NOT return phone calls, even though they say they will, and do not update their holiday hours. They do have pretty decent turn around times for glasses and contacts and have a nice variety to choose from.

My glasses broke I had to wait for them to open due to shut down, fine I get it. Then made appointment up front told them I have a medical condition can not wear a mask. Was told this would not be an issue. This morning Friday June 5 had an appointment waited an HR past the time I was scheduled for which I understand also. But was told the Dr would not see me cause I can't wear a mask, I have a health issue that I can't wear one. They didn't care. Said I could get new glasses and lenses. How considering I'm having eye issues cause it's been over 2 yrs.

I was recommended to Dr. Gleaton for a concern I had in regards to my daughter eyes. My daughter is 17. The doctor approached us and mostly myself in a condescending manner. When I went to talk to her about why we were then she swiveled her chair away from me and cut me off mid sentence... to talk to my daughter who really had no idea of what was happening. She also made personal opinions about the amount of medication my daughter was on despite it having nothing to do with why we were there. As a new patient she made no attempt to make things comfortable but rather made us feel we had no business

I have been going here for 35 years. I have never had to pay a co-pay and my circumstances haven't changed. About a week ago, I got a bill for $24.99, and when I asked about it, the girl snipped at me and said, Its a co-pay. I said no, Ive never had to pay one, and if I did, it was usually $3. She insisted The bill was a co pay, and when I called Monday morning, The smart mouthed one asked if I was calling about the bill I got. I said yes, and she basically hung up on me.
A second note, I had to go in to check on my prescriptions in the past 4 years. The last prescription I got was all wrong

Superb! Dr. Gleaton has been an incredible ophthalmologist whom I have been privileged to see for my eye care for about 15 years or so. Several years ago she performed cataract surgery on both my eyes at different times and the results have been incredible. I could not say enough good things about Dr. Gleaton or praise her and her practice highly enough. I have full confidence in her practice.

I had been going to this practice for many years with no problems, but lately they have treated their patients like cattle. I got a new pair of glasses last year, which I absolutely could not wear. Made me dizzy and totally stressed out. They remade them grudgingly once with no improvement. I switched back to my old glasses, which were far from perfect but at least didn't make me feel sick. In desperation I saw a local smaller practice where I was treated like a valued client. They discovered that the glasses I had were not the right prescription, but the biggest problem was with the frames. They

I just want to say how impressed I was with the quickness of getting my contacts and glasses. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I moved to Maine 3 years ago and have been nervous about seeing a new eye dr as I do have some issues but Dr Janes and the staff made me feel right at home. I'm glad I chose Atlee as my eye care specialist. THANK YOU!
