Iron Creek Lake is located in an untouched area of the pristine Black Hills west of scenic Spearfish Canyon. While it is off the beaten tourism path, a trip to the lake is just a 20-minute excursion south of Spearfish on a well-maintained gravel road. The lake was created through a WPA project to create jobs in the mid 1930s and to provide a recreation site in Lawrence County.
The trail circling the lake is just about one mile in length, making the lake small enough to prohibit wakes and high-speed watercraft. The atmosphere is quiet and oriented towards families. Iron Creek Lake offers the perfect venue for swimming, picnicking, camping, hiking, fishing and boating. Or just come and relax!

We had reservations for a cabin but had to cancel. No one ever answered their phone, so all we could do was leave a message describing how our vacation was canceled. We called days in advance. They never called us back. But then we saw they charged our credit card for the full three day stay. When we called to ask why they charged us even though we never received anything from them, their attitude was too bad, we just get to keep your money. Just be aware.

This place is gorgeous I love going up and hiking around enjoy the cute little lake! The marina/campground however will never receive another dollar from me we have been going up there for years sometimes picnicking on the beach sometimes camping but this lake will now be no more than a day trip for us. The bitter old man who runs the marina is a passive aggressive twat. We recently went camping, it sprinkled for a good portion of the evening so we sat in our tent drank a few beers and went to bed. The next day wile we were making breakfast this old man pulled up and told us we could leave peacefully
