The Cares Project is a 501(3)C nonprofit social enterprise, certified as a Community Development Financial Institution by the U.S. Treasury, serving low and moderate-income, credit-challenged, working adults in Forsyth, Davie, and Davidson counties. Car Ownership Program provides a low-interest car loan, gives you money management skills, a personalized household budget, and financial confidence.
I'm so excited! I got my car through the CARes Program. This program was an eye-opener for me, it helped me budget, and it helped me get my credit score together. This car is going to be very rewarding not for only me but for my daughters as well. We have reliable transportation! Services
Begun as an initiative of the United Way of Davie County in 2016, the Cares Project is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit corporation. Operations began in 2017 with individual financial counseling and group home budgeting classes offered in Davie County. The first vehicle loans were made at the beginning of 2018.
The CARes Project is a certified Community Financial Development Institution (CDFI) funded in part by the US Treasury. The CDFI fund matches locally raised dollars to help support our Car Ownership Program. As of 2019, The United Way of Forsyth County joined The CARes Project in our mission to assist low-income working adults buy a quality used car with a warranty, build their credit score, and learn how to manage their money.
The CARes Project's Car Ownership Program not only provides a low-interest car loan, but also gives you money management skills, a personalized household budget, and financial confidence. Credit-challenged working adults with household incomes of less than 80% of the median family income can apply for the program.
The CARes Project, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help low- and moderate-income individuals and families in our service area to become financially stable and self-sufficient. A CARes Project car loan can provide you with safe, affordable, and reliable transportation.
Through our Car Ownership Program, customers learn to practice good money management skills, increase their creditworthiness, and receive reliable transportation to get to work and to school.Our Car Ownership program loans up to $10,000 for a car purchase. All cars are purchased from franchise dealerships and offer every CARes car buyer a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty on the car.
