Far West Turf Farm
For over 25 years we have been growing sod and servicing retail & commercial customers from Castle Rock, Washington to Oregon City, Oregon-including the greater Vancouver and Portland Metro Area. We have 80 acres of sod farm and 8 acres of nursery and green houses to bring you a great selection of plants, trees, Hasta, dwarf conifers and ornamental grasses.

Their passion for landscaping plants and sod farming grew from their first retail nursery in Fairview, Oregon according to Don and Lynette Schmidt. In 1986 they began their sod farm and nursery in Woodland, WA. They became well known for friendly service, high quality premium sod at farm direct pricing.
Services
Take a break from the craziness of everyday life, come to A&R Nursery, put on your walking shoes, and do your "social distancing" in our wide open spaces. We have lots of plants that are perfect for your garden. Browse our selection and take home some new friends. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call.
From Longview Washington: Take I-5 South to exit 21. Take exit 21 toward WA-503 E/Woodland/Cougar. Merge onto Pacific Ave. Go 0.7 miles to Lewis River Road. Turn left at the signal. Go 0.1 miles and turn right at the next signal immediately after crossing under the freeway. You will cross over the North Fork of the Lewis River.
Extremely cold hardy tree native to a very large area of North America. While it has little landscape value in our opinion, it is used heavily by wildlife. It has yellowish-green 3 to 5 leaflets that turn a poor light yellow in fall. Plain brown furrowed bark and stout green twigs. It is a common pioneer tree species colonizing open fields and producing an open pioneer forest.
An easy ground covering clump of excellent yellow starry flowers that suits so many situations. Looks wonderful with other yellows, mauves or ornamental grasses. Bright, bold yellow flowers over finely cut lacy foliage. A prolific bloomer from early summer into fall. Drought tolerant once established.
A medium, winter dormant, perennial grass. Narrow, mid green leaves, rise vertically from a slowly spreading root stock. The end portion of each leaf is painted a deep blood red. As the summer progresses the red intensifies until the top half (or more) of each leaf is a stunning, deep red. It rarely (if ever) flowers.

Huge nursery with tons of selection. I wanted a very specific tree that nobody carries, and the owner knew exactly what I was talking about.
I bought 675sqft of sod and the owner was very personable. The prices were competitive as well. The pallet sizes were smaller than most sod farmers so I was able to get the pallet in my 1/2 ton short bed pickup.

Very friendly and very helpful. Employees willing to unload my trailer and move pallet of SOD from trailer to truck when I made it 5 miles down the road and had to come back because the trailer was overloaded. Will definitely be back.

I have been purchasing sod and plants from Don and Lynette Schmidt for 18 years. I have landscaped 3 homes over the years. This started when they owned and Operated Circle S Landscape East of Woodland and now in their new location at Far west Turf Farm south of Woodland.
Why have I been so loyal? Great and helpful service, quality plants and sod and great pricing. What more can you ask for?
