Formerly known as R.B.'s Cyclery, the customer friendly cycle store was established in 2003 by Rod Bickel. Mel Clark, the current owner, worked as senior mechanic for Rod since 2010 and he and his wife Louise bought the shop in 2013. Bike the Planet will continue to sell Cannondale, Felt, and Marin bike lines.
When you bring your bicycle to Bike the Planet for maintenance or repair, our friendly, professionally trained technicians will assess your bike's needs BEFORE we start the work. You'll get an honest estimate from one our experienced technicians and have you back on the roads in no time. We offer Bicycle 'wheel to wheel' service options.

In 2021 it's pretty rare to have an awesome experience involving anyone trying to sell things, but Bike The Planet has given us the exact opposite treatment. THEY ARE FANTASTIC! Super patient, very knowledgeable and unbelievably friendly people who have a super cool little shop with a 1990's Memphis feel about it. I can't wait to go back! Please don't change a thing about the way you do things, Bike The Planet, because you guys are freaking AWESOME!

Listen to the good reviews on here. I was here to talk to Mel about a new bike. He was so patient with me and told me everything single thing I needed to know about each bike that he thought would suit me.
He explains why each bike is worth its price and he’s absolutely right. He is so knowledgeable he’s basically a bike Wikipedia. Mel is a bike guru!
He’s an engineer by training and understands the geometry, mechanics and materials in bikes. I ultimately walked out buying only a bike rack today but I’ll be back!

I don’t write many reviews but had such a good experience I thought I would. I took my old bike in for a tune up and the difference was significant. I strongly recommend everyone take advantage of this service because of its affordability. Thanks Mel and his better half. I would use her name but Mel has not gotten her business cards printed yet 😉

Just got a bike and needed an air adapter for the tires and there was a few small issues I needed help with. I walked in and Mel stopped what he was doing and did at least 5-6 different things for me and had me out within 20 min. Very knowledgeable and was more than generous with information and hospitality as I waited. I won't go anywhere else other than Bike the Planet.
