We have stayed at this lakefront motel many times and have never been disappointed. We have stayed in several different rooms, but the best is #21 with a large picture window overlooking the harbor.
The motel is the closest place to stay to the Isle Royale ferry berth… just walk over to the boarding area in a couple of minutes.

This place is “old school” and fits its location perfectly. well maintained and clean with water views. didn’t need an air conditioner with the ample crank windows and quiet pole fan for ventilation. provided fly swatter came in handy. loved having a front door and a back door with outdoor seating. would stay again.

I would give it a 5 star but there is no fridge...no microwave either. The waterfront view is awesome but the CGs drop down frequently and bomb the grass and dock. The bathrooms are real nice as well as the interior. I had a waterfront room. A big plus is ice for your bucket and bags for sale onsite.

Copper Harbor is a really neat town with trails for hiking and biking near by. The views from your room are amazing overlooking Lake Superior. It's not the fanciest of places but it's still a very clean and comfortable place to rest after a day of fun. The family who owns it is very kind and always happy to help, though they aren't always around and ironically it was difficult for us to pay for our rooms. But if you are ever this far north in Michigan King Copper is worth the stay.

We stayed for one night in early August and had a great experience. The room was clean, our AC unit in our room worked great (+ they provided an oscillating fan as well), and we had an amazing view of the lake! We really enjoyed having a patio out back to sit and watch the sunset. Ladies bring a hair dryer if you need it because there is not one-luckily I planned for that. & I would also recommend bringing your own shampoo/conditioner. Overall good experience and would stay again.

We came up for a weekend get away and chose to stay here. It is a very nice little place right on the water with a spectacular view, and in a convenient spot. The personnel was friendly, the room was clean, nice tv and what not. Our only issue was the bed was extremely uncomfortable.
After a long day of touring in our vehicle, we were looking forward to a nice comfy nights rest. The bed was the opposite of what we were hoping for. Other than that, no complaints.

The pros: perfect location right next to the water and central to everything in town. reasonably decent price for the prime summer tourist season. The little old lady that checked me in was about as nice as you can ever be.
The cons: very dated property that isn't as well maintained as it could be. Some cleanliness issues in my room (the coffee maker was disgusting, the bathroom sink was iffy, and the room smelled funny). The lady who checked me in, while she was super nice, didnt really know what she was doing and put me in the wrong room, etc.
I'd stay here again if I didn't have any other

Stayed here the night before getting on the ferry boat out to the island. Pretty basic 1960's motel. Pricy for being in the middle of no where but they got you because it's right next door to the ferry. Stay the night, park your car across the street, walk to the harbor, get on boar, go. It's all very close and easy access. Bed was firm and comfy, good nights sleep. Never used the tv. Bathroom was fine. Shower and water pressure was good strong stream. Beautiful view out back of the lake, an unexpected highlight.

We were browsing around that area and were lucky to find out about a vacancy at the King Copper hotel. The stay was good. The room/bedding/shower was clean.
As a plus: 1-you get a Lake Superior view from your window.
2-cost:We paid around one hundred per night.
As a minus:
1-We had to spend some time chasing flies (there were too many in the room when we came in)
2-the Internet was very slow the day we were there.(August 23,2016)

Awesome view, awesome room, awesome staff and all in an awesome little town. Everything was so nice and clean here, although it has been here for many years, you would not know it, it's so well kept. Out here on the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula you can sit on your patio and watch the sun come up or the sun gently setting on Lake Superior. No cell phone coverage in Copper Harbor, and that was actually pretty nice. Our room did have great wifi, so you can if you wish, check the weather, tourist sights or keep in touch. I would recommend turning it all off and soaking in the atmosphere the King

If you're looking for a fancy and perfect hotel, look elsewhere. But this hotel has a very home-y and small town feel. There is not wifi, but a short walk to any local restaurant will yield some wifi. The best part of this hotel is the VIEW! Great viewing deck/patio on the back of each room for looking over Lake Superior.

My preferred hotel in Copper Harbor in that it is the closest hotel to the Isle Royale Queen ferry.
The back of the hotel borders up against Copper Harbor which is right up to Lake Superior, offering beautiful views. The hotel itself is very spartan but efficient and economical. At the center of Copper Harbor this is a nice place to stop when on your way to Isle Royale.
