Our experiences in life teach us our best lessons; how we interpret those lessons are critical to our happiness and success in life. The story of the Seven Jars is a great example of one of life's important lessons, and we are happy to share it with all who care to listen.
In passing the 18th Amendment to the Constitution, America had made an aggressive decision; in order to combat the evils of alcohol (per capita consumption was reportedly over 10 times that of today), the Volstead Act prohibited the production, importation and distribution of alcoholic beverages. When the 18th Amendment was repealed in 1933, North Carolina remained a "dry" state.

Seven Jars Distillery has one of the most unique ties to Charlotte history you can find! If you are looking for the best thing to do in Charlotte, you have come to the right place! We offer Rum, Vodka and Whiskeys, all crafted direct from events dating back to BEFORE Prohibition! Visit us for a fun, informative tour where you can learn about our history, our process and best of all taste our great Rum, Vodkas and Whiskeys!
Seven Jars Wine is craft wine at its BEST! Each batch is made with loving care and aged to perfection. Even winemaking has a history in the Ratcliffe family! Frank Ratcliffe himself had a muscadine vine near his house and used it to make his favorite wine! We haven't started making that particular gem, yet, but we do have 15 other wines for you to enjoy!
We are increasing the opportunities for you to be a part of the Seven Jars story, Save the Date! Classes are offered twice a month on Saturdays, typically with Beer classes on the first Saturday of the month, and Wine classes on the third Saturday of the month. Instruction includes techniques, tastings and tour of our expanding facility, plus a few surprises.
However, keep in mind that we are likely to be in production, and not always able to provide tours to drop-in friends! If you are interested in a Tour and Tasting, WE DEFINITELY WANT TO GIVE YOU ONE! The best way to make sure we can is for your to visit our Tours and Tasting calendar, and schedule a tour with us there!

Can not rave about this place enough. Great wine, kind staff and phenomenal spirits. We did the tasting tour and our guide was funny, attentive and extremely informative. Loved the experience and definitely left with some new favorites.

We enjoyed every minute of our wine and liquor tasting!!! Stephanie and Trevor were so knowledgeable about their products and made pairing suggestions based on our favorite selections. They also gave the history on the founders and a few funny stories (ask Trevor to tell you the pig story). I will definitely be buying more from them.

This was an amazing experience. We visited in celebration of a friends birthday, but left with a new brand favorite! The tour was so informative and fun! They make this stuff called shrub (which I bought to take home) which is like nothing I ever tried. Yum! Virginia was our hostess and she was welcoming, patient, knowledgeable and FUN!!! Did I mention the fun! Definitely visit as part of a distillery tour — and grab a couple of bottles of wine and vodka. We had the chance of trying a little of their staple products. Would give 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend visiting.

We couldn't figure out how to book a tour online so we swung by around 3:15 on a Saturday since we were already in town for something else and the owner (Uncle Scotty) and staff were gracious enough to let us do a walk in tour.
We started off on the wine/beer side. Only one person in the group was a big wine person but we were given 8 cards that we could turn in for samples of one of their 14 varieties. Surprisingly we all found ones we liked. It was a great touch that they also provided snacks to match the wines.

Descending upon this locale...I'm sure I had the same thought as most of the would be patrons who cruise into the parking lot..."am I in the right place?" The car service driver insisted he was at the correct spot when we turned in... a non-descript industrial strip mall with dozens of identical entrances.
They proved you didn't need anything fancy to fire a still back in the prohibition era...they seem to have taken this mantra...and many of their other back stories and brand elements to create their product. If you venture for the tasting tour, you will be treated with those

Seven Jars was a lot of fun! Got to try their liquors, wines, and beers. And got educated on the history of the distillery and North Carolina during the prohibition. Had to take the pickleback vodka home with some Bloody Mary mix! All the employees were great and gave us great dinner recommendations

My department tries to socialize outside of work and what better way to bond than over booze! We began with their rum and vodkas first. The vodka was served with a fruit mash that was very sweet and tangy. Both were served separately and it was suggested to try them individually then together. What's funny is that in the state of North Carolina, a distillery can not mix "mixers" and liquor on site...but the state has no control of what is mixed in your mouth. (HA!) The rum was very strong and a little overpowering for my taste. However, the pickleback vodka was fabulous with

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CLASS EVER! I just took a home beer crafting class at Seven Jars Distillery. I've made one batch of beer but taking this class will make all my future brews much better. Hands on experience is so helpful. Also we got to try their wines and spirits (VERY YUMMY)!
I highly recommend this establishment for beer and wine classes, buying all necessary equipment at reasonable prices and all the beer/wine/spirits they produce!!

Had an amazing experience tasting from their distillery. Pickled Vodka amazing with the mix the use. Bourbon whiskey has that tasty slow flavor that a real bourbon lover likes. Straight or on the rocks it is flavorful. The rum had that natural sweet kick everyone loves. I have drank their wine several times an it never disappoints. Give me a Merlot. Go do a tasting your meal net will be well spent. Th customer service is amazing and the young lady is sweet and sunny.

Went for a tour and got a fantastic history lesson. This is a story to know. I could tell you but then you would miss out on trying the samples. And what a concept beer, wine and spirits in one space. So if you can say North Carolina this is a destination not to miss. Its the inside that's where one needs to be
