Maine Veterans Homes
MVH provides compassionate care at our six Homes in Maine: Augusta, Bangor, Caribou, Machias, Scarborough and South Paris. We offer rehabilitative and therapy services, long, short term and skilled nursing care. We provide top quality care, compassionate support and peace of mind for Veterans and their families.

This can be difficult to answer when you know the best option is a rehabilitation center first, so your loved one can get around-the-clock professional care and therapy. As you're thinking about your future, the cost of care can be a heavy burden to weigh, not only on you but also on your family. But, as questions like, "Can we afford it?"
Services
At Maine Veterans' Home, we believe it is a privilege and our responsibility to provide care and support for those who honorably served our country, as well as for their families. Created by the Maine Legislature in 1977 to provide long term care services to Maine's Veterans and eligible family members, we continue today to operate as an independent, nonprofit organization.
At Maine Veterans' Homes, we understand and appreciate the physical, mental and emotional strength required to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. As a Veteran, you have been trained to overcome obstacles and never give up without a fight. We are committed to providing the exceptional care, compassion and support that our Veterans and families have earned.
If you'd like to make a difference in the lives of senior Veterans, consider volunteering at any one of our six locations. Our six locations in Augusta, Caribou, Scarborough, South Paris, Bangor and Machias are recognized for their modern amenities, exceptional programs and full continuum of care. Sign up for our FREE veteran-focused e-newsletter and receive blogs that share their stories, memories and photos.
At Maine Veterans' Homes, everything we do is centered around providing the best Veteran care in the nation. We are dedicated to serving honorably discharged Veterans who were residents of Maine at the time of their entry into the U.S. Armed Forces or who are residents of Maine at the time of their application to MVH.
When recovering from a surgery, illness or other incident, you need a customized treatment plan that provides the rehabilitative care and therapy you need to get back to daily life as quickly as possible. At Maine Veterans' Homes, our Therapy Centers provide 24/7 skilled nursing care and advanced therapies to help you regain your independence and return home safely.

The staff is amazing, they take care of my stepfather with so much love and respect words can't describe they love I have for the staff. I walked into this place in fell in love with so many veterans. The love in there eyes is easy to see. I thank them for what they do every day I'm there.

My 91 yr old father-in-law was cared for with such kindness, dignity, and contagious joy during his stay here following a second hip replacement surgery. The nurses, CNA's, and LCSW were out of this world! Their gentleness and smiles eased his pain, and let him drift off to sleep grinning. They worked beautifully with our caregiving family, always with an inexhaustible compassion, generosity of time and spirit, and cooperation (very notably with the 17 yr old grandson caregiver). Never patronizing nor "too busy" to address our questions and his needs.
I was impressed with the careful attention

I can't say enough good things about this place. My dad spent his final two weeks at this home and they treated him with such kindness and respect. The nurses were so professional and patient with him. When my dad's body was removed from his room, the veterans lined up along the hall and saluted and the nurses held their hands over their hearts. It was something I will never forget.

My family and I have volunteered at MVH Augusta, sharing music and visiting with the residents. I also visited MVH Augusta several years ago with a group a co-workers and had a great time sharing a meal with and visiting with the veterans. MVH Augusta won a national silver quality award, and it shows. These people simply care about veterans, and care about the quality of the care that veterans receive in their home.
