We planned to go to Trainwreck but they don't allow anyone under 21 years old. This place looks like a drive through and actually does have a drive through. We had chorizo, eggs and home fries. All pretty good food. The wait staff was very friendly. Chorizo was homemade and delicious. $100 for a family of 4.

This is one of those "hole in the wall" sort of places. It appears to be a repurposed fast food joint, possibly a Taco Bell. Anyway, it's now run by a nice couple. All their food is prepared to order and fresh. As an aside, this means it isn't cheap. Not extravagant, but not cheap. That said we felt it was worth the price and will come back.

I had a bowl of their clam chowder. It was really good chowder, obviously house made as evidenced by the various sized chunks of potato, celery and onion. It had plenty of clams too and was perfectly creamy and thick. Not gloppy thick

I was always a little hesitant to come in here just by the location and the looks of the outside.
My daughter and I stopped in for breakfast. The service was spot on and the food was solid. My daughter loved the pancakes. Will definitely come back again.

Covid has reduced staffing everywhere, but some places rise to the occasion. Great food with interesting options and a waitress who is the everready bunny. Arrived after the morning rush. One waitress on duty put us at an interior table with coffee and menus while she tackled the morning cleanup and sterilization. Then moved us to a great table. Even with this delay, we received great food in a timely manner. We will be back. The Popeye scramble was amazing.

A neighborhood diner without the crazy tourist prices. Will definitely come back again.
The menu looked great but I wasn't feeling the interior yelp photos. I'm so glad I came! What looks like an old fast food joint has been updated to match its diner offerings. Food is good, too. :)
As a CA transplant, I really miss mexican breakfast menu items such as chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. I was also encouraged by the fact that Mount Vernon was 30% Latinx. Riverside Cafe does not disappoint.
The waitress was super friendly also. She was opening the door for an elderly couple when

Very good and attentive service! My order was ready quickly. I had the three-piece cod fish and chips and iced tea. The entree included cole slaw, fries, and two pieces of garlic toast. The fish had a nice crisp outside but was doughy inside. The fish itself was good. The fries were perfect, some of the best I've had. They were crispy outside and flavorful. Cole slaw was good. The garlic toast was wonderful. Seating includes tall wooden booths with plentiful light all around. My iced tea was kept filled. Great lunch experience!

Absolutely my favorite place ! I have been here more than once and everytime I was here I was treated with nothing but respect and curtisy from all the staff. The food was amazing , and I have eating a variety of things from the menu and I was not disappointed. They were also very accommodating to my service animal.
Thank you

Staff was very friendly and attentive. You get to sit wherever you want which was nice. They have shades you can pull down if the sun gets too hot. It was easy to get our order taken quickly but getting our food felt like a long time. Part of it was that I was really hungry when we arrived and it was s but longer than I prefer. My omelet was done as I requested with very little cheese and there was quite a large amount of veggies inside it. The hash browns were as good as anywhere else. My wife got the grilled chicken burger with avocado but she said the chicken breast was quite bland.

Nice family run restaurant
we got the soup of the day which was clearly homemade and was quite good
we each got a hamburger which had a hand-formed patty and it was quite good
they have a large menu so a group should have no problem finding something for everybody.
I recommend giving them a try if you are in mount vernon
note they are not open for dinner !

We stopped as a family while heading home from Arlington. This place only had 3star rating but we decided to try it. Not sure who is rating this place, but we gave it a 5 Star all around!!! Food was great with many different options. Waitresses were nice and frequent for water and coffee refills. Fast service with food and bill. Thank you to the Riverside Cafe for a good stop.

Worst club sandwich ever.
Almost no meat. 1 thin slice of turkey and ham, very little bacon. The meat was cheap processed, terrible quality.

My husband and I stopped for breakfast this past weekend and were waited on by a very nice gal by the name of Sheila. She was super attentive, friendly, personable and professional. We've eaten there several times in the past but this is the first time we've seen her so she must be fairly new. She's great and hopefully we'll see her there again.

Really nice small restaurant. Sat down right away and quick service.

I went here for the clam chowder! Their menu inhouse is updated and slightly different than the one online. Clam chowder and coffee was good!

Because we had a coupon we decided to have lunch today at the Riverside Cafe. From previous reviews we weren't expecting an amazing meal but good at least. It was one of the worst meals we have had dining out! I ordered the special, a prime rib dip for $13.99. The prime rib was almost all fat and my French fries were under cooked. My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak with sausage gravy and ....it was disgusting! The gravy was obviously from a can and had a strange after taste, he took a few bites and left 3/4 of it uneaten. I can say the French fries were the only decent item

I insisted to my mom and sister that we support a local business & go to Riverside cafe! Service was friendly, but not so timely. Food was yummy and tasty but I really wanted to try their feature salad as a side for my half sammich but they said they couldn't or would have to charge me for the full salad which still does not make sense to me.
Try this place out though, staff is super sweet and they local

Pro: Good, traditional food and lots of it. The fish and chips and burgers are particularly good. The fish and chips are really good. Not too much breading and the oil is fresh and at the right temperature so the fish is not greasy. The service is friendly and the food arrives quickly. I've seen a few breakfast dishes and those have looked good.

Con: A little expensive for "fast food". The waitresses are always changing and often new and have little experience with food or being servers. I had a "taco salad" once. There were no refried beans on the bottom and

Inside this former fast-food chain restaurant there is a very good cook.
The BLT soup was a surprise and very good with bacon, croutons and fresh lettuce on top of a spicy tomato soup.
The philly chicken was tasty, even the cheese had a good strong flavor, unlike the cheese you get at most cafes and dinners. The steak potatoes (small crispy fries are an option) were cooked just right: soft but crisp on the outside and not too salty. The mixed steamed veggies were not over done.
