Sturtz Excavating is the business that began on the seat of a piece of heavy equipment as the brainchild of Russell Sturtz. Once described by a newspaper as a barrel-chested crane operator who always clenched an unlit cigar between his teeth, Russell began his career in construction in the 1970s as an oiler and greaser.
He slowly worked his way up, joining the celebrated International Union of Operating Engineers and eventually becoming a skilled heavy equipment and crane operator. Russell eventually formed his own business, choosing to focus on both residential and commercial construction projects in Oswego County and Central New York.

Services
Russell Sturtz Excavating is a family-owned business providing quality construction services for more than 30 years. We work with hundreds of clients a year, but because we personally handle each project, we can provide high-quality services. Our customers also benefit from our years of knowledge and experience.
With nearly 40 years in various aspects of the construction industry, our small, family-owned construction company has and can handle just about any residential project and smaller commercial jobs. Although we offer a wide range of services, we also often contract with others to handle aspects beyond our expertise, and regularly refer our valued customers to qualified electricians, plumbers, masons and engineers.
Over the years, we've made many people happy customers, which is why such a large part of our work is repeat business. If you've had a good experience with us, send us your comments and well post them here for future customers.
