My name is Jake Moreland and I am the owner of Two Birds Photography. I'm a laid back and easy going photographer and I love to capture real non-posed moments. My style of photography is bright and happy. I work out of my home in the Chicago suburbs although I always have my passport at hand and love road trips!
I started Two Birds Photography in 2008 and have photographed so many amazing weddings and beautiful families since then and would love the chance to capture your story as well! I am the proud father to my three awesome sons, Graysen, Bear and Milo - who I fondly refer to as my unpaid interns. I have three rescue animals: a three-legged dog, a blind cat, and another insane cat who's usually underfoot.

Services
Gabriella and Patrick got married on a gorgeous sunny day in September. Their ceremony took place at the beautiful St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Orland Hills followed by bridal party portraits in downtown Frankfort. Their reception was held at the amazing Tuscany Falls in Mokena. Their day was packed full of special details and memories for us to capture.

Working with Jake was a fantastic experience. He was so incredibly professional yet made us feel very comfortable being in front of the camera. We had a few conversations and email exchanges before the event where we talked through what we were looking for on the day of - and he not only delivered on that but went above and beyond! His communication was clear & day of demeanor was superb. Us and our families are overjoyed with the photos that he took, and would love to work with him again in the future.

Jake did an incredible job capturing our wedding (8.28.2021). He was so easygoing and pleasant to work with! He checked in with us several times prior to our event and was extremely responsive to our needs and requests. The day of, he was the perfect balance between directive and a "fly on the wall" and was able to capture amazing shots, that we will cherish!

Jake from Two Birds Photography was the best wedding photographer we could have asked for. He was always present and in charge, helping us to coordinate family photos, bridal party photos, etc. He clearly loves what he does and always looked excited and ready to go. He was always looking around for interesting photo spots, gave us advice and direction when we needed it, took our ideas and ran with them, and generally just did an awesome job. Our photos came back looking absolutely gorgeous. We honestly can't stop looking through them.

Due to Covid, we ended up having two wedding celebrations, one with just our ceremony and another for our reception. Jake photographed both for us and we could not have been happier with our experience with him or how our photos turned out. Jake was super easy to be around and it felt like having a friend with us both times. I would HIGHLY recommended Two Birds for any event!

Jake was amazing! We used Two Birds for our wedding, which we scheduled for the day after Christmas. We were married at our home with just immediate family (total of 9 people and 2 dogs). Jake was so personable and professional and worked so well with our personalities. He did the most amazing ob capturing the light for all of our photos. We are stunned with how gorgeous his photos came out. Jake takes the time to make sure that all of your photography dreams are met on your wedding day. I honestly cannot imagine anything better. I 100% recommend Jake and Two Birds Photography!

Two Birds Photography was fantastic to work with. Jake, our photographer, was so professional and as he made all the shots very relaxing and collaborated well with what kind of pictures we wanted. He also took the time to take pictures of me with my cat Hiro (which was a bonus). Jake even went above and beyond to help me with my dress when needed and even held onto a can of hair spray for the groom (which was just extremely kind and thoughtful). Overall, a great photographer and the pictures came out amazing.

Jake and Jennifer are incredibly talented wedding photographers. Not only were they professional and kind throughout the process, they also made us feel very comfortable in front of a camera even though we had just met them the day of the wedding. The resulting photos are more that I could have expected. They are beautiful, yes, but they also capture the feeling of the day. They are truly special people. I enjoyed spending my wedding day with them, and my family will treasure the photos they took forever.

My husband and I were debating whether to go with Two Birds or a less expensive photographer, and we are SO HAPPY we decided to hire Jake and Jennifer for both our engagement and wedding photos. They are worth every penny. From the first time we met Jake, every interaction has been wonderful and so personal. Jake is a true artist--he stakes out places for great photos beforehand and has so many ideas. Jake as our wedding photographer was nothing short of amazing. Communication and coordination was spot on from months ahead, to a week ahead, right down to the day of. It was a joy to know our wedding moments would be captured by someone who actually seemed to care about the story behind the people in the photo. He adjusted to anything we needed and dealt with our sometimes crazy family with the utmost patience. Usually a photographer is just that someone behind the camera... but his wonderful personality meshed in so beautifully that he felt more like a guest, who just happened to be taking photos

I am so glad I did some random searching on instagram and stumbled across Two Birds Photography. I knew I wanted my wedding pictures to be amazing, and when I first met with Jake I knew I would get what I wanted. He was so organized from the start. He would even answer my silly little emails within the hour at times. I would recommend Jake to anyone in an instant! And I haven't even seen all my wedding pictures yet, just a few ;)!!!

So this is a bit of a late review, as I used their services back in August I believe. I actually asked them to help me plan a 10-year anniversary surprise for a good friend of mine who had never had professional family photos done. And Two Birds Photography did an outstanding job in every aspect!

Jake is absolutely FANTASTIC. You can rest assured that he will capture your wedding beautifully. We called up Two Birds after they worked with one of our friends and we saw how absolutely stunning their wedding photos turned out. Jake did our engagement and wedding photos and I couldn't be happier.

What can I say about this amazing husband and wife team that hasn't been mentioned previously?! Jake and Jennifer photographed our wedding this past May. Because we were doing things a bit long-distance, they were very receptive about planning things over the phone/email and even would FaceTime! They both have such creative and fun-loving personalities which are reflected in their amazing photos. The first thing that we LOVED about Two Birds was obviously their work. It speaks for itself. We wanted photographers who captured more candid moments vs. the "Hey everyone, stop and look over here and say Cheese!" photographers. Two Birds was perfect.

I don't know where to begin. Jake and Jen Moreland are beyond talented photographers, I think that is made quite obvious from their photos on their website, here, and on numerous wedding style blogs. My husband and I knew from the start that the Morelands are who we wanted to share this day with. We worked with Jake for our engagement pictures and decided to have both of them photograph our wedding at Brookfield Zoo. Jen hung out with the girls most of the morning, and Jake with the guys.

Jake has a warm presence that fit seamlessly with our bridal party and guests. He was present for the important moments, but did so with a grace that left you looking at photos asking, 'when was he there taking that photo?!'

One of the highlights of my November 2012 wedding was working with Two Birds Photography. I originally contracted with them in May and we had the engagement session in June. I had a lot of very specific shots that I wanted because we were going with a MadMen/Bewitched retro theme. Plus, I brought my two dogs, and it was exceedingly hot and humid that day. But he met us at the Riverwalk and was on time and got all the shots I had described. When I was feeling like I wanted to go home, he encouraged us to take a few more shots working with nature, and I have to say that those were my favorite pictures

Jake was our wedding photographer and was absolutely amazing. I wanted my photos to be fully photojournalism style and that's what I got. His photography has a very urban but vintage feel that it stunning and timeless. I also thought that their pricing was incredibly reasonable. I have seen photographers charge a lot more for pictures that I don't think are as good as ours turned out.

I was so lucky to book Jake as our wedding photographer. It was so great to not worry about that aspect of the wedding. He was inquisitive and proactive in our initial meeting and I feel that he really developed a solid idea of what we wanted. He followed up with us a number of times and really set us at ease.

Jake and Jen took pictures of my son last summer when he was 18 months. Brady never stopped moving the entire time but somehow Jake managed to capture amazing pictures that our family will cherish forever.
The images are crisp, creative and classic and truly capture the essence of my sons personality. We look forward to working with Two Birds again in the future and have highly recommended them to everyone we know.
