The company was started in 1967 by J. Michael Foxx to provide income for him while attending graduate school. The company's rapid growth and success caused Mike to stay with it rather than looking for another job after graduation with his MBA. In 1973, fresh out of high school, Ralph Batsel and Don Flecky were hired to work at Foxx as part-time evening janitors for the (at that time) huge wage of $2.25 per hour.
What began as part-time jobs while going to college, turned into full-time positions in the operations side of the business, and ultimately became careers. In 1979, Mike Foxx sold the business to Ralph and Don, and each maintains 50% ownership in the company to the present time. Both Ralph and Don individually are licensed general contractors in their own right, and each is active in the operation of the business.
