In 2010 Frances Blythe had a dream of working with brides and helping them get the look they had dreamed of. This led her to school to become a licensed esthetician. She also worked to perfect her skill level with makeup by taking additional classes, reading books of fundamental makeup artists, but most importantly lots of practice.
Frances also realized that in working with brides on their wedding day it is truly important to understand lighting for photos yet still maintaining a natural look in person. In 2013 Frances was introduced to Samantha Lopez who is a licensed cosmetologist. At this point, Beauty by Blythe was a full-service hair and makeup team.

She is professional, funny and you will feel you have a new sister after working with her. I love Frances and her amazing all round capabilities her work is perfection. Trust her ideas. We have all completed cosmetologist and or aesthetician school and trained in infection control and safe client practices. We have our licenses with the state board of cosmetology. All of our Artist have 5+ years of experience before they are considered to be part of our team. After a quote is generated and agreed on, we will send you a wedding contract and invoice for a 25% retainer.

My extended family did a holiday photo shoot in Montecito and we hired Blythe through Thumbtack. Every communication was smooth and we all couldn't have been happier with our hair and makeup. We had ages 11 to 50 and Blythe gave everyone an age appropriate look. Her personality was so easy and accommodating that everyone had a great time. Frances was an absolute pleasure to work with. We had a small wedding ceremony with our parents, and I especially wanted our moms (and me!) to feel special and beautiful on our wedding day. I was a bit worried about finding a makeup artist that could work with our various skin tones, so finding someone that had a portfolio with a diverse clientele was very important to me. Frances gave me a full glam look and it was such a relaxing experience! She was professional, had an expansive and clean kit, and talked with me to get an idea for my look. She asked me how i usually do my own makeup, my skin type, and skin care regime and took that into consideration with the products she used. I cant wait for an excuse to get my makeup done by her again!

Frances and Gabby are the best! They're both so talented and fun to be around. They had me and my bridal party laughing the entire time we were in hair and makeup. Frances was especially organized and flexible. I had a very particular idea in mind for my makeup look and she executed it perfectly during my trial and on the big day. Even when we had to change our wedding plans 3 or 4 times due to COVID-19 she was extremely patient and lovely to work with. Give Frances a call, you won't regret it!

I booked Beauty by Blythe for my sister's wedding in Santa Barbara. The team did a beautiful job on both hair and makeup for the bride and makeup for the bridal party. From the very first time I contacted Francis she was helpful, warm and prompt. I had a few ideas about my hair and during our makeup and hair trial she answered all my questions and tried out a couple different things we could do.

Frances did an amazing job on my makeup for my wedding. It far exceeded my expectations. I have never been able to use foundation myself as it always separated no more than 10 minutes after putting it on. Well, Frances worked that magic and my makeup looked beautiful ALL NIGHT! I would highly recommend her for wedding or any event.
