Ok, it's pretty obvious this place has seen better days.
I'm traveling cross country by bicycle and noticed this hotel has large billboards along highway 98 every few miles advertising 'rooms starting at $45'. The signs look at least 30 years old, so I knew that wasn't gonna happen.
Entering Cross City from the north, the first hotel I passed was far too expensive, then another that was WAY too scummy looking. The Carriage Inn was number 3.
$80 plus tax, and I could tell the current management has worked very hard to utilize what they have and keep the place clean. Pool looked well maintained

Booked the room in advance, arrived just before midnight, multiple open signs were lit, vacancy sign was lit, but the lobby was locked and no one answered the doorbell, nor did they answer the phone. Spent 20 minutes ringing the doorbell and calling the number repeatedly, then tried texting to the number, still no answer.
Since no one answered and there was no way to leave a message we left and called another hotel, which actually picked up their phone. One hour after we had arrived at the Carriage Inn we get a call back from them, apparently the night manager thought it was appropriate to take
