Kim Dyson May is the owner of High Plains Home Care Assistance, serving Amarillo and the surrounding communities. Her caring heart for elderly individuals was cultivated from early childhood by her mother, a nursing home administrator. By the time Kim was four years old, her responsibilities began to include clipping toenails, removing hair rollers, calling Bingo, and playing the piano for the weekly singing hour.
The following are some of the most frequently asked questions by families in search of senior care for their ageing parent, grandparent or loved one. If you do not see your question listed below, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at Call (806) 803-9991 where a Care Manager will be more than happy to assist you.
This first book of our wellness collection focuses on the factors contributing to healthy longevity. Since we're living longer and longer, making those later years healthy ones is increasingly important. Happy to 102 explains the approach to diet, exercise, mental stimulation, social connectedness, and purpose which can mean a delay or avoidance of diseases like cancer, heart disease, bone loss, diabetes, and dementia.
Happy to 102 is the first book in our senior wellness series and focuses on healthy longevity, which we define as remaining healthy, active, sharp and happy throughout an extensive lifespan. We are living longer than ever. Centenarians are the fastest growing segment of our population. Before we know it, 102 just may become the new 75.
The Handbook of Live-In Care is the second book in our senior wellness series and offers practical, how-to advice on caring for an aging parent or loved one. Age may be "just a number" for many people, but it also brings very real daily challenges for many older adults.

Retaining independence and living in their own homes is integral to most older adults' sense of well-being, yet frailty, illness and forgetfulness can make living at home difficult. The Handbook of Live-In Care gives caregivers-usually an adult son or daughter-practical, how-to advice on caring for an elderly loved one.

I needed help unexpectedly on a Saturday and they responded very timely. I had two different people helping me during the following week. Both were delightful and super helpful. I would highly recommend this company.

Contacted Home Care from Florida to get help for my mom who had just had surgery. They were a great help to her and were able to get her on the schedule with a very short turnaround time. Highly recommend for anyone in a similar situation!

Home Care Assistance has been a God-send in the care of my mother. Our family began 24/7 care for our mother recently due to declining health. After interviewing a few agencies, we decided to go with HCA - and we are so happy we did. Kim has a heart for service and has trained her team to be incredibly compassionate and caring. The care givers are very sweet to our mother and always do little extras for her everyday to make her feel special and loved. They truly care about their patients and the families. I'm so happy we found Home Care Assistance. I can't recommend them enough.

Bree and Kim came into our senior living facility to give our team an eye opening dementia simulation. Since we work with seniors, we felt like this would be a good experience for us all. Each team member went away with a fresh insight and a better understanding of the challenges that our seniors face on a daily basis. We have since seen the effects of how this simulation has helped us to be more compassionate and understanding of those challenges and frustrations that not only the seniors have, but their family members as well. Thank you, Bree and Kim, for bringing a better understanding to us
