When you enter our doors, you come in as a whole person, with your unique physical, mental and emotional needs. Though we are primarily body workers, we hold space for all of you, using active listening skills and expert massage techniques to bring balance to your system in all ways. This is the most common type of massage and often includes several modalities, depending on your specific needs.
It focuses on the areas of your body that are giving you trouble and helps to relax you. This technique is perfect for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage. Smooth, heated stones are placed on certain points of the body to warm and loosen tight muscles and balance the body's energy centers.

The therapists at SIWC are skilled in a variety of modalities and often use a combination during a single session. If you are interested in a particular type of bodywork, please let us know. This is the most common type of massage therapy in the United States. It is also known as Swedish massage or simply massage therapy.
In general, the client takes their clothes off down to their underwear (bra too for women) and get on the table, covered with a sheet and blanket. The only part of their body exposed is the one being worked on. If a client is uncomfortable undressing that much, just tell the therapist, and they will work within your comfort range.
In 2016, there were up to 50 million cases of chronic pain among adults in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Did you know that 44% of Americans reported that their stress levels have increased over the past five years? Our very own, Beth Hinden, was recently featured in the February issue of the Florence Union Connector Magazine.

I was having trouble with soreness in my left shoulder and neck. Beth did a fantastic job of working out the painful area! It was both a relaxing and therapeutic massage. I've had massages before where working out the lactic acid was super painful. This was not a painful massage however I still left feeling looser and overall better. I would highly recommend coming here to anyone dealing with similar issues.
