More adults than ever are seeking straighter teeth - perhaps due to advancements in modern dentistry that allow for more discreet and less invasive orthodontic treatments. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the first orthodontic visit take place at 7 years of age since some children at this age begin to reveal signs of a jaw and or tooth imbalances that can lead to serious issues later in life.

Unlike the modern options, we have today-from clear aligners to glow-in-the-dark dental braces-he had a mouth full of old-fashioned metal wires and rubber bands. As a teenage tinkerer, young Bill was keen to see how his braces worked. Armed with a pair of pliers and a coat hanger, he made a copy of his wires to show his orthodontist on his next visit.
If you want a straighter smile but are uncomfortable with the idea of wearing traditional braces, clear aligners can be an excellent solution. The advancements in modern orthodontic technology have made it possible for orthodontists to inconspicuously straighten teeth that are crowded, protruding, or widely spaced and move them into a position that is more pleasing to the eye.
Everyone deserves a smile they can be proud of, and many achieve straightened, well-aligned teeth after undergoing orthodontic treatment as a child. But for adults who do not have that perfect smile they desire, orthodontics is still an option. In fact, there is no such thing as being too old for orthodontic treatment.
At Harrell Orthodontics, we emphasize the importance of early orthodontic screenings. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the first orthodontic visit take place at 7 years of age since some children at this age begin to reveal signs of a jaw and or tooth imbalances that can lead to serious issues later in life.
Approximately 25 million adults in the U.S. have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which can cause them to stop breathing hundreds of times a night for anywhere from a few seconds to more than a minute. OSA is a chronic condition that occurs when your muscles relax during sleep, allowing soft tissue to collapse and block the airway.
