North Shore Winery
Chuck Corliss, a long-time Lutsen visitor and homeowner, and his wife, Kim, an avid North Shore fan, are the founders of North Shore Winery and the Sawtooth Mountain Cider House. Both have long term interests in wine, vineyards and wine making. But decades of experience tasting wine, beer, and cider gives them that "real-world research experience" to make some really yummy adult beverages for you to enjoy.

The idea to build a winery took off when discussing retirement plans and what to do when finished with our "day" jobs. The couple definitely wanted to live in Lutsen so they could ski, mountain bike, sail, and golf full time. Combined with lifelong "research work, " they thought a winery would be a fun new attraction in Lutsen!

Got the mixed wine flight (1 Chardonnay, 1 rose, 3 reds) and a cider flight. Personally I thought the ciders were much better even though it’s a winery. Would stop again, cute vibe!
Recommend Ciders: Moose Joose or Razzz

Stopped in and tried the mixed wine sampler and cider sampler and loved it. Choose a great cheese to pair with it and had a great time. Highly recommend. Plan to dress for outdoor weather.

Really interesting. Kind of like Dr. Johnson's dog. Not how well it walks on its hind legs, but that it does it at all; the audacity of making wine in a climate hostile to Vitus vinifera. The star of the show is Boundary Waters White. It features the new-world Brianna grape with a supporting cast of old-world standards. Pairs well with local white fish, vegan entrees. Great value for money.

I never thought that after a day of skiing 🎿 in Minnesota that I’d want to recharge by sitting outside for a few more hours until I came to North Shore Winery. Their mulled 🍷 wine and solo stoves 🔥 were the perfect combo for taking stock of our day while soaking up the last bits of sunlight before the stars came out. Their branded apparel rack even inspired me to add one of their hats 🎩 to my collection! Can’t wait to get back to Lutsen and spend more time here.

Amazing winery! We called on our way back to bluefin from grand marais hoping to get in on a Friday. Pat got a table ready for us inside despite reservations mostly being online (and it was raining). I tried the mixed flight — all were so good!! Rest of the group had Chardonnay and loved it. Not a wine connesieur but have been to a few in MN and this hands down was the best I’ve been to 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Very friendly staff, wonderful wine and cider, and a great setting. They are making some great cider in addition to wine. The Chardonnay, Hari Kari, and Rock of Ages were favorites for wine. The Semi-Sweet and Razz were favorites for cider.

Very nice space with a larger selection that I was expecting. I didn't have time to learn more about the place and the origins of their selection but when in this area, I think this is a nice stop.

Loved this place. We happened to drive by and found it. Was wondering what was at the top of Lutsen Mountain and drove by this place. It was closed but when I looked it up I found out it was date night on Thur from 7-9pm. It was super easy to make a reservation.

We were a little early but seated immediately. I think the reservation guaranteed you an inside table to enjoy the live music. There were lots of people sitting outside and listening through a screen door.

There are no servers so you order then go to your table. As we were new, we took the menus to our table to take some time to decide

This is a great winery, conveniently located next to the ski resort.

Great seating inside and outside, even in the winter time. Staff and service were great. They had an option for buying cheese, crackers, and chocolate. However, you do have to buy whole items and kind of make your plate (ie whole block of cheese, whole box of crackers) They had a good variety of red and white wine flights as well.

Unfortunately I wasn't the biggest fan of some of the wine, there were a few a like and I did take home a couple of bottles.

I would stop in again and I would recommend a visit if your in

I really enjoyed my wine flights. I had the mixed and the red only. I ended up leaving with 6 bottles! The cider flight was very refreshing too (I tried my husbands). My favorite was the Hari Kari Bourban. I'm usually not a bourban aged fan but it gave the wine a nice depth without adding sweet notes. The Marquette was pretty tasty too! COVID protocols were followed. There is great fire pit seating with beautiful Lake Superior views. The staff was friendly and helpful.

A very nice late afternoon sit-down, wine sipping experience. Went July 4th evening at around 6 pm. Great outdoor seating, very rustic. Went with my sister and mom. My sister tried their ciders, mom their white wines, and I tried their reds. Their wines are pretty spectacular--the high acidity marquette, the shiraz, their Rock of Ages blend are all fantastic. One of their employees gave me a very brief tour of the indoor space, which is really cool (see photo below) and I got a chance to talk with him and another staff member about all sorts of wines we liked and disliked. Ended up buying a bottle

Nestled a little off the beaten path outside of Lutsen, MN sits North Shore Winery.

It's a great outdoor expanse of wooden sitting areas with fire pits all surrounded by Lake Superior's natural north shore beauty.

We didn't stay long because we wanted to get back to our campsite before dark, but I thoroughly enjoyed the flight I ordered consisting of 5 of their premium reds. My favorite was their Cabernet Savignon. It's very full bodied with nice acidity and some pretty noticeable tannins.

This is a must if you're cruising along the North Shore and want a little relaxation

This is a nice gem to find while exploring the north shore, and the staff is phenomenal. Outstanding guest service! Covid precautions were all in place, and didn't detract from the experience as you get a long paper menu listing the wines and ciders to review while you sip. The rating is really driven off the wine quality itself & price point of the flights. The quality of the wine didn't match the quality of other MN wineries for the 3 North Shore Winery had made from MN grapes, or the rest made they from the CA grapes. Many had poor taste or bad after tastes unfortunately. We experienced

I'm not a huge wine fan, but my friends are. I stuck to cider and loved the ginger version. They have ample outdoor (spaced) seating so bring your mittens. Fun place. Nice owners. Will be back soon.

Who wouldn't love wine and truffles after a hike? Especially with that sweet Lover's Special. 2 choices of wine with 2 chocolate truffles. Yum! Split the deal with my friend and she's not a big wine drinker, but thanks to the helpful staff she was able to try something she really enjoyed. My suggestion was great as well. The prices are very reasonable and so much so that you're tempted to take a bottle home.

The location and the architecture of the establishment is neat. I love that there is live music and sometimes a food truck or pizza options on some nights.

I'm just not sold on MN Wine. This is another location where it was all "meh". I think I preferred the cider over the wine, but there was really only one I cared for.

It's a fun hour to spend, but I don't know if I'd commit to returning.

What a nice little gem. We spotted the North Shore Winery and the (same facility) Sawtooth Mountain Cider House on our way up the mountain to our room at Eagle Ridge. We popped in one evening for a drink. It's a small place, with a bar and some of those wine barrel tables. They mostly serve wine but do have a smaller selection of ciders too.

The place is really nice looking, and it is super inviting. We walked up around sunset, and were immediately invited in by the firepit and ring of chairs and the beautiful Instagram-worthy basket of blankets just inviting us to sit down.

On the day we
