Services
Frandy is a complete camping facility located on the "wild & scenic" Kern River, with plenty of room for tents, RVs, buses, trailers, and campers. Pull thru sites are available, and a new dump station which is free to our campers. Guests can enjoy clean bathrooms and coin-operated showers. The campground is available for weddings, family reunions, and other group events.
The Kern River Valley is one of California's best kept secrets and Frandy is amidst it all. The campground is directly on the Kern River, allowing guests endless access to all kinds of water activities in Kernville and the surrounding areas. The river offers a wide range of class III-V whitewater for kayakers and rafters, with some portages required around class VI waterfalls.
Kern River Tours has trips to suit all ages and experience levels. Whether you want a raft trip from one hour to three days, we have it for you. The season begins in April as the snow pack from the western slope of the highest peak in the continental United States, Mt. Whitney, begins to melt. This snow melt drains into the upper river basin and makes it way down to the Lake Isabella reservoir.

Please be careful was there this weekend 3 of us are coming home with sprained and broken ankles. The wooden stairs that lead to the top are broken and not stable. But other than that clean bathrooms and showers. Im in pain so i gotta give only 2 stars.

Nice, friendly staff, but this place has room for improvement. It needs more restrooms, showers, and a coin laundry area. Having no sewage hook up was a little frustrating, but we managed to do without it. People were respectful of the quiet time hours which was nice.

While the location is tempting, this is not the camp to go to if you want to relax.

If you want to blast music, drink and have a party til dawn, this is your spot. Don't even read the rules they walk you through on arrival, forget about them. They will not enforce any of them and the regulars clearly know this and love them for it.

On the bright side, i know there are probably campers looking for a spot like this to party so here it is. Most of the other camps in town will remove people if the are loud past midnight but not here.

The sites themselves offer little space between campers

We had a wonderful time at Frandy campground. The facilities were clean and there were plenty of things to entertain the family. The staff was friendly. It was our first camping experience and we definitely plan to come back.

Frandy, Frandy Frandy, what can I say? I was pleasantly surprised.

HUGE THING FOR ME, YOU ARE ABLE TO BOOK ONLINE, most of the other campsites don't have this availability! Every campsite has a photo of the actual campsite lot! (Major score) I do not like surprises!

We were welcomed with a "drive thru" style check in where all our information was taken and wristbands were given (felt very safe) also a map along with activities that were scheduled for Saturday (meet the animals, rock painting and movie night). The staff was friendly and welcoming.

Also, they have 1$ popcorn buckets

Update! One of the employees, sue I think, called and apologized for the mess. While it didn't make up for the gross that weekend, I greatly appreciate that they made a concerted effort to recognize the fault and fix it. Promised it wouldn't happen again.

Don't listen to the recent reviews, this place is great. Friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, delivered as expected. They even put a call into nature for us to make sure there were no fires or smoke or dusty wind during our stay

No regulations on sound or trash control , they let the guest run the park and when you ask they don't really help .

Love this campground! Beautiful large sites...you can park any direction in your site you'd like, as long as your water and power reach. Not all sites have hookups, we were lucky enough to get one! They are dog friendly and very respectful. The movie on Friday was awesome and the bands on Saturday nights are a blast. This is our second year here and we've already booked our spot for next year!

We stayed 3 nights in space #4. It did not have a grill, water spicket or electric. This site, as well as others, are waterfront but are fully obstructed by bushes and trees. The spaces are tiny, cramped and on top of each other. When we first pulled in we were perplexed on how to fit all of our stuff in such a small space even though we only had two tents and a canopy. During our stay we noticed the look of perplexity and disappointment when new campers would arrive. People near us moved spaces or stayed less than 24 hours. If you are super social and are ok with no privacy, this campsite would

This spot is good for family camping because they do enforce the time to shut off lights, generators, and to keep our voices down. Portable bathrooms are cleaned daily with lights in the portable restrooms I highly recommend this campsite for families to come and enjoy the river that is only few feet away. It's a clean camps

People are silly. If It was as bad as people write reviews it wouldn't be sold out all the time. I love this place they even show a movie at 8 o'clock at night every day. The owner and the staff are friendly and always willing to help. On top of the fact that it sits right next to the river and one of the safest places in Kern. Close the stores and everything. Please please listen to the review so you don't come and there's space for me.

All of the staff are super friendly and nice. I only gave it two stars because of the late night shenanigans. Rude campers who have no consideration for others - partying til all hours of the morning, late check-ins who spent hours setting up camp instead of doing the minimum & waiting til morning. Very little respect for quiet hours made getting any sleep almost impossible. Multiple complaints to the camp hosts did not bring any relief from the 2 am partying. No campground etiquette - streams of people walking thru your camp site to get to a spot on the river. Way too many people in this campground

Stayed here for a few nights last week and unfortunately, I will never go back. The location next to the river (and Lake Isabella) is great and the town of Kernville is small and adorable, but this campground will never get my money again.

Upon arrival, the woman at check in was incredibly rude. I am not exaggerating. Was it because I was wearing a mask (due to Covid, to protect her...) upon arrival, I don't know. But she really made me feel unwelcome.

Then I arrived to my campsite and found that they are situated in such a way where it feels like you are camping in a long two-car driveway

CAMPING! Being realistic with expectations make the experience what it deserves to be. RULE NUMBER 1: IT'S CAMPING!!! YES, there's lots of dirt, yes there's porta potties that have crap in them, yes there are bugs, yes the river is loud, but it wouldn't be camping without these! (There's always hotels up the street).
We were a large group. Took up camping spaces 1 through 5.... river front. Each space has a picnic table and grill (we had at least 1 grill, but brought our own as well). These spaces had tons of shady trees too. What i liked most about these spots was

First time camping with the whole fam for the father's day weekend. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. It was a nice camping ground, clean showers (don't forget to bring quarters), close to the river and near by markets. Suggest to bring inflatables and life vest for kids that wants to play by the river. The rapids can be strong and the water is too cold to swim in.

Have a fun camping!

First time Frandy and Kern River campers, the hardest part of the whole weekend was trying to get out of San Diego. When coming up from San Diego take the I-15 to the 58 just past Barstow, West on 58 to Kramer junction 395 intersection and head north on the 395 until you get to Ridgecrest/ Inyokern turn off. Follow the signs to Kernville.

Frandys is well organized, easy checkin and a very friendly staff. We weren't lucky to get a full hookup site some we dry camped in our RV. Big shade trees are everywhere so it helped cool the rig. They allow small campfires if you need it, we didn&apos
