French Funerals & Cremations
You don't have to do this alone. We are here to guide you every step of the way and help ease the burden of planning arrangements. We are available any time, day or night, to answer your questions and to be there when you need us. French Funerals & Cremations was founded in 1907 by Chester T. French, and continues to be one of the largest and longest-running funeral homes in Albuquerque, NM.

Our mission when we began remains the same today: To honor and remember every life with dignity and compassion, and to guide families in New Mexico through the difficult journey of loss. The French Family of Companies is the only full service continuum of care establishment in our community.
Services
Chester T. French moved to New Mexico from Tennessee in 1904, in hopes that the arid climate would help cure his brother's tuberculosis. His brother succumbed to his disease, but Chester fell in love with the beautiful city and its people and dedicated himself to helping families in their times of need.
Losing a loved one is hard enough. Add in the many logistical and financial decisions that come with arranging a funeral or memorial service, and it can feel overwhelmingly stressful. By planning yours in advance, you can remove these extra burdens from your loved ones during an already difficult time, and allow your family the space to remember, connect, and begin to heal.
There is nothing easy about planning the final goodbye of someone you love, and choosing cremation services is no exception. It is our honor to lift as much of the burden of planning from you and your family as possible. Cremation is but one part of honoring someone's memory, and is an option for any type of service we offer.
A traditional funeral is a timeless and elegant way to gather family and friends together to remember your loved one. Our staff will guide you through your options to help you plan a service tailored to your needs and budget, and that uniquely honors the life of the individual. It is our privilege to service all cultures, traditions, and faiths with the utmost respect.
A memorial service for someone you love is a deeply personal occasion. It should honor their life in a way that reflects their personality, while meeting the needs of you and your family. A celebration of life allows people to come together to remember the deceased in a way that is befitting of the life he or she lived, and provides you the opportunity to share in the joy they brought to your life.

The staff at French Funerals and Cremation were compassionate, clear, and efficient. We were treated with respect and dignity. I believe it takes a very special kind of person to deal with others who are grieving, and Kim was that person for us. I will always be grateful for the kindness.

Everyone was so caring and thoughtful. Liz was amazing she took helped care of all my dads last wishes. She had answers to all of my questions and would respond very promptly. The process was made very easy and I appreciate that because it left us time to take care of and focus on the other aspects of my dads burial. I don’t think my dad could’ve been in better hands. Thank you for all of your compassion!!

It has been a sad few years for my family. My sister passed March 1, 2018, my dad November 16, 2018 and my mom April 17th 2020. French's handled the arrangements for all 3 of my family members. A lot of business's you are a memory after you hand them your money, not French's. Three years later and Trinity Montoya is still going above and beyond and is always responsive. My parents are both veterans and because of the pandemic we were not able to give them the service they wanted at the National Cemetery. Trinity is still helping us with all the arrangements and notifications 3 years later. I love

My stepdad passed away recently and we stopped in at French unannounced to make funeral arrangements. We were not sure we’d get to visit with a funeral director that day because we didn’t have an appointment. Nevertheless, Richard Stewart sat down with us. We opted for a no frills funeral but you would have thought we were going all out with the way Mr. Stewart treated us that day and with follow-up calls to keep us abreast of everything. We felt very cared for and I can’t express enough how well we were looked after through the entire process.

Our son recently passed away while working temporarily in New Mexico. We live in Atlanta and found it necessary to obtain the services of a funeral home in Albuquerque. We visited the French Funeral Home - University in Albuquerque and were extremely pleased with the advice and services they offered. The morticians we met with were very knowledgeable and comforting. They spent time with us to explain every step of the cremation process and how they would deliver my son's remains to us in Atlanta. As promised, each step of the process was carried out in a dignified manner that put our heavy hearts

Amanda, Dominic and all the staff at French's Funerals & Cremations were so helpful in helping plan and assist with my mom's funeral and cremation. They answered all my questions and went out of their way to follow up with me about all the details. Amanda even showed up for the service and assisted the priest. I am so grateful to them during this difficult time.

French’s Funeral Home has now gracefully managed the final rites of both my parents. Particularly as I reside out of state, the absolute professionalism and fine detail management by all the staff, is so gratefully appreciated by me and my family. The precise attention to my Mother’s recent passing by Amanda Trujillo ensured that all concerned were gently and carefully managed. I am truly grateful for her patience and kindness during such a complicated time. The added concerns of the pandemic were also perfectly handled. Thank you.

My son first spoke to Ms Trinity Montoya in order to arrange his father’s internment of ashes on 16 September 2021. Ms Montoya made it so easy for him in his state of grief. I later called her and received the same outstanding service. I later called when Ms Montoya was not available and spoke to Caitlin and to someone else whose name escapes me. Once again I received outstanding service, follow up and follow through. It appears that whoever answers the phone provides the same superb service. I know my children will receive outmost care as they bury their father on 16 September 2021 and I will

I cannot reccomend French's enough. My grandpa recently passed away (at 101!) and they took care of my very large family, and especially my grandmother, exceptional well. Trinity took care of everything, she was kind and patient and very helpful. Everyone I spoke to on the staff was extremely sensitive and helpful! The service was gorgeous and impeccably handled. I really can't say enough good things about French Funerals and Cremation. They even offered follow-up emotional support. A wonderful company to work with in a really hard time.

This is not a review I want to do, but one that deserves to be done. French's is the most kind, the most efficient, and most professional service that one will need in your time of need.
First, I need to point out we were doing home hospice and required pick-up from our home. I didn't even know where to begin. I have a dear friend that works there and he gave me their 24 hour phone number. From the time I picked up the phone, I knew my mother would be in kind and caring hands. The person who answered was sympathetic and kind. The people that came were somber, helpful, and even though
