Clocksmith of San Carlos CA, offers you a large selection of antique and vintage clocks, dating from the mid 1700's through the 1930's. Ours is a full service clock shop specializing in sales, repairs, and total restorations. Each antique and vintage clock we sell has had a total mechanical overhaul to like new condition and is covered by a one-year warranty.
We also do movement replacements in post 1950's clocks whenever new movements are available, and replace the movements in modern decorator clocks, both battery and electric, with high grade quartz movements. You'll also notice that we have a "COLLECTORS CORNER" on our website that lists unrestored clocks that are sold "AS IS", without a warranty of any kind.

We are upset that this clock shop has had a clock of ours for sale on consignment. We were told it might take a while to sell, which was fine. However, after being on consignment since February, 2018, we have given up hope of them selling it for us. We have been calling and emailing for over a year now and have heard no response from them. We want to retrieve our property! I know they essentially closed during the pandemic, but no answer at all is unacceptable.

I've had a clock that was passed down to me after 15-20 years and it was missing the clock hands. They were able to provide options for clock hands and install the needed mechanism for it to run properly. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable and the prices were reasonable!
It was only $55 for the labor + cost of the clock hands, which is almost half the quote of a different clock shop in San Mateo.
The clock meant a lot to me since it was passed down so I'm happy they were able to fix so it can function as an actual clock again Clocksmith!

Apparently they are not in need of additional business. Went in with my antique clock which was not working. After first being told that I didn't know how to wind it (which I assured them I did, as I have had the clock for some 15 years and have been winding it just fine), when I told them the clock was not working, it was not keeping time, I was told to go home and "take notes" and come back. Isn't it a repair shop's job to diagnose the problem and fix it? Clearly they had enough business and didn't need mine. I'll happily go elsewhere.

Just an update here: I bought a 1920s Art Deco styled clock with a French movement here at the Clocksmith when we moved to San Carlos in 1986. It still keeps excellent time. I've called a couple of times to ask for help in getting the hands and the hour-strikes synchronized when the clock stopped while we were gone on vacation--the first person on the phone cheerfully walked me though it. Simple: this place is as good as it gets.

This is my latest discovery, an outstanding clock shop with honest folks who love their job.
I have an antique, 100+ year old, clock that needed some love. Every shop I called quoted me ridiculously high prices without even seeing the clock. The folks at Clocksmith told me they'd be willing to look, and it might cost nothing. I took it in today.
I met Christian, a very knowledgeable guy that schooled me on clocks and excited me about what he does. I could tell he really enjoys what he does. He was able to diagnose my problems quickly, and with help from the woman at the bench, my clock

I walked into the Clocksmith (first time ever) with our 40 year old wall clock, expecting to drop it off and wait week(s) until it was repaired. The knowledgeable gentleman open it up on the counter, evaluated it and had the clock working again in 15-20 minutes. He then offered to bring the clock to my car, which I accepted. When asking him what I owed him, he waved his hand and said. "you owe me nothing, repairs at the counter are free of charge". Unbelievable but TRUE! What Great Business ethics; rare to find these days. I highly recommend the Clocksmith!

I have a Museum clock from the Modern
Art collection. I lost the nut and the entire fitting was lose. I brought it to Clocksmith and 5he wonderful people found a fitting that would work, fixed it and handed it back to me. No charge! What fabulous, wonderful service. I'm taking them a jar of marmalade. Thank you so much. All my clocks will come here for TLC.

Brought a wall clock in for repair, didn't hear anything for several weeks. I decided to call and ask how things were going. He started the conversation with the words, "Lemme 'splain something to you...". It seemed I was not allowed to call him, I was supposed to wait by the phone until he called me. The conversation deteriorated from that point. I waited for another four weeks, still no response, so I called again. He complained bitterly that the clock was '...a piece of sh*t...' and he was '...sorry he ever accepted the task...', but he would &apos

Many years back in Europe, I received a German mantel clock as a gift. It stood at my parents' home in France in their living room until they passed away and I decided to bring it back to the US.
It needed a new suspension spring and trained hands to install it, so I looked around the Peninsula for places that may be able to repair the clock. The Locksmith in San Carlos was the place I ended up after unsuccessful tries and though they told me they do not repair this type of clocks and they do not have parts for them, Christian said he would definitely install the suspension spring if I could

If the stars went to six, I would give them that. I must have driven past this business a million times over the years, and never quite noticed it. Then I saw an article in a local newspaper about the many years that they have been in business, and the loyal following that they have. While reading the article, it occurred to me that a clock from 1965 that I inherited from my father needed some work. The plug was damaged, and it needed some TLC, and I wasn't even sure if it still worked. Due to the fact that this clock was given to my father as he left the Army, and had been on various

Our loved 1820's grandfather clock stopped working. We took it to Clocksmith and they smiled, reassured and went to work.
Yesterday the clock came home not only working once more but with the case repaired, the chimes and strike resonating and the dull, tarnished, sad weights and dial back to a bright gold color we've never seen before.
The guys from Clocksmith, delivered, installed and tested our clock. They taught me how to take better care of it. They told me the history and provenance of the clock and revealed secrets I did not know.
When the clock left us it was a battered family

I ordered a custom wall clock online and it arrived needing assembly, the hands needed installing. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it assembled and ended up bending the hands. I took it in to hopefully get it assembled correctly, expecting to pay at least $50 to $75. They were able to fix it at the counter while I waited. The hands the company sent me were the wrong size. They were able to rebend the hour and minute hand by unbending the 2 hands and forming them to properly fit. They then had to replace the second hand. This all took about 10 minutes. I grew up with an English, antique grandfather's clock (circa 1850's). It was the backdrop to my childhood, standing proudly in the living room, chiming each hour.
My parents moved the clock from England (damp, cold) to Phoenix, AZ (dry, hot). The wood was damaged by this move because of the change of climate. It warped and cracked and veneer started to peel off. That was in the 1970's.
My parents never repaired the clock and the wood continued a slow decline. The clockworks continued to function but, unbeknownst to us, were slowly wearing out.
Fast-forward to today. I inherited

We got a large (battery-operated) clock about a year ago and a few months back the hands stopped turning. Jen pulled the birthday card and asked me to get it fixed it as a gift to her. I wasn't really looking forward to lugging the thing around or getting someone to come over to look at it, but then I realized that the clock face came off pretty easily. I looked on Yelp and found Clocksmith was pretty much right down the street from us (It doesn't get more local or niche than this).
I walked in and two ladies took a look at the clock while I wandered around the store, mesmerized by all
